Aloha. This month finds your faithful scribe the lucky recipient of a long and newsy letter from Jack Nicholson, who's planning to walk down the aisle with Sharon Eimers in Evanston, Ill., on June 5. Jack's living in Huntington Beach, Calif., where he's renting an apartment from Kevin Gartner. Kevin is also headed for nuptial bliss in the near future, but Jack prediets that won't interfere with Kevin's "thrill" ing analysis of frost-heaves on the Alaskan" Canadian gas pipeline."

Other classmates in the southern California area include Jeff Rieker, who's working in an emergency room at a hospital south of Los Angeles. Jack also relates that Don Pulvers and his wife Wendy had a son, Charles Daniel. in October.

Joe Hoffman is slated for marital merriment in Sioux City in August, when, as Jack notes the city's at its most beautiful. Everything's a matter of degree, Jack. Joe met his fiancee Loretta when she was a bridesmaid at Dave Howe's wedding.

Jack's been in touch with Fred Wall, who's at the money desk for Irving Trust in New York City. Fred's wife, Jori Hyde, is hard at work in the film business. Fred runs into John Slaby, who Jack figures is the only guy in our class who's a computer jock by day and a New Wave electric guitarist at night.

According to a late report, Nick Aponte and his wife Shelly are expecting a child in August.

Lastly, Jack relates that he's moving to Chicago to seek fame and fortune in the securities industry. That's what brought me here, Jack and now I've got this very nice red bucket that the authorities let me set up on corners during the Christmas season. Perhaps staking the ranch on stock in a company whose only product was left-handed hammers wasn't such a hot idea. Anyway, Jack, good luck and thanks for all the scoops.

Other news comes from Bill Rice, who sent a note in one of those ominous "For Official Use Only" envelopes stating that he is working at Argonne National Laboratory by day and starting a night M.B.A. program at Northwest"

On March 12, 1982, the New York Times announced that Cynthia Shannon is engaged to the Reverend Jim Antal of Lawrenceville, N.J. After graduating from Dartmouth. Cynthia received a master of philosophy degree from Cambridge and is presently the executive director of the American Friends of Israel Interfaith Association, an organization that promotes mutual understanding among Jews, Christians, Moslems; and Druse in Israel. As the Times says, a June wedding is planned.

In the sports department, Tim Caldwell,a three-time Olympian in cross-country skiing had a successful winter campaign, while Jim Beattie is, at presstime, preparing for another season on the mound with the Seattle Mariners. Jim's had some occasional progress with temdonitis in his shoulder, but reports that he's got a considerate doctor. If you can't afford the operation, he just touches up the x-rays.

As for me, I continue the sordid, wallow-in-the-gutter life-style I've grown so good at. In fact, the other night I was on the receiving end of the following: "I've looked high and low for someone like you, but I didn't look low enough." Be good.
