Labor Day is just ahead as I write but will be long gone when you read this. Then, what is time? "Given time, you could bail out the ocean with a bucket." Our new class president. Bob Reeve, in his August letter, filled you in on the details of the Class Officers Weekend. Unfortunately, this was one I missed, since I was resting comfortably in a hospital, having landed there the day I was to take off for the event. I can now report all OK and thank the many '38ers who called. However, your mail has not stopped and I am just beginning to get back to some of you.

Speaking of mail. Remember the picture sent by Red Boutilier of the Richardson Hall group published in the May issue? Numerous letters and phone calls from as far away as Florida hastened to identify those pictured. Even Phil Conti '37 got into the act! As far as we can determine, this is the correct line-up. From left to right in the front row: John Paul Wait, Ed Grethe, Werner Schmidt, Sturgis "Red" White; second row: Royce Randlett, Richard Axel Anderson, Bob Lansdell, and Red Boutilier.

If you find an old snapshot, black and white, of a 1938 grouping, send it along. We might try the mystery picture bit. It sure increases the mail. And Bob Reeve might award a gold 50th t-shirt to the winner.

The mini-reunion (September 30-October 1) is a month ahead as I write. Chairman Dick Francis reports more than 50 registrants. Distance runners appear to be: Shorty Pabst, Arizona; Bob Manegold, Wisconsin; John Mercer, Illinois; and Pres Downer, North Carolina. Among the missing: Bob Freese, who will have been moving to Charlotte, NC, and Hank McDuff and Jim McKeon 111, who had prior professional commitments.

The 1938 OGL (Older Golfers League) had quite an active season on tour, starting in May and ending in September. The sites and hosts were as follows: Hartford, Dick Holt; Cohasset, Charlie Hitchcock; Duxbury, Brad Jenkins; Warwick, RI, Parker Holden and Paul McLaughlin; Greenfield, Luke Nimms; and Worcester, Bob Hallock. Among those playing, besides hosts (list may not be complete): Bud Lynch, Dune Buttrick, John Tower, Dick Sherwin, Bob Reeves, Bob Foley, and Harry Connors. Linesmen: Dick Francis and Randy Randlett.

Pres Downer is a man of his word. He sent me six excellent golf balls picked up on his lost ball route. Unfortunately, they arrived while I was in hospital and I haven't been able to put them to use this summer because of the heat. Pres and Jean have bought a house in Jackson Springs, NC, "on a lake where the bass fishing is good, which I hope will take my mind off my non-existent golf game."

Apparently, the 1938 column continues to be read by other than "38ers. Had a phone call from Phil Conti '37, as noted above, about Red Boutilier, and a call from Al Burbank of Alton Bay, NH, inquiring about Len McChesney of Barbary Coast fame. Al was a resident of Hanover when we were in school and had occasion to entertain some of our classmates. Tries to keep in touch via the column. Phil Conti is located on Marco Island and asks that we look him up when in that area come winter.

Gil Tanis has not only been elected class agent, but also president of the New Hampshire Council on World Affairs. Gil also managed an Episcopalian junket to England and Canterbury Cathedral during the summer.

Charlie Keyes picked up in July and departed Darien, CT, to settle in Sequim (pronounced "squim"), WA. Had occasion to visit there with my wife in 1980 so that we could dine on the famous dungerness crab. Sequim is located on the Olympic Peninsula across the sound from Seattle. Morgan Marshall, reporting from Bellevue, WA, advised that the Northwest Alumni Seminar was to be held at Fort Worden, Port Townsend, this fall. This is not too far from Sequim. More from Morgan in a future column.

Alex and Libby Jones were reported back in their "handsome" Maine summer home in Friendship.

To correct the record on a sad matter our classmate Karl Hill did not, as erroneously and regrettably reported in his obituary in the June issue, die of cancer.

Regarding address changes: To expedite changes, please notify the Alumni Records Office, Blunt Alumni Center, Hanover, NH 03755. They will keep me up to date. Thank you.
