Welcome back to another year of rumors,, half-truths, and jests. I didn't hear from too many folks this summer, so I assumed no news was good news until I saw Kelly Dixon and Alison Schmults. They paid me a visit the other day for the sole purpose of filling me in on what some of you have been doing recently and it is not all good.
For starters, Brian Burdelle has disappeared from the face of the earth. Anyone with information as to Brian's whereabouts should contact Kelly, Alison, or myself. If you find him, approach him with extreme caution as he can be very dangerous.
Speaking of dangerous individuals, Dave Wohl, Chris Graham, and Rob Wagner were seen loitering around the Charles Street laundromat in Boston several nights ago; I believe they are still at large as of this writing.
Kelly and Alison report that Lillian Cousins is "learning the family real estate business from her father in Atlanta." Dinah Hamilton is in her second year of law school at the University of Georgia and she is "still complaining." Randy Gordon was recently photographed for Sal- omon ski bindings after his stint as a ski bum at Jackson Hole, W'Y.
Kelly further reports that Derek Webb has finally landed a job with a "small, growing, and little-known financial concern by the name of Brown Brothers Harriman or something like that in New York." Alison has heard that' 'even though Amanda McColpin hated engineering at Dartmouth, she is returning to the Thayer Engineering School in the fall."
The final piece of news from Kelly and Alison is that Rick Bercuvitz has started his own clock shop in the West and "he is losing and selling time while living with Gordon Cook and a preppie, computer-jock named Eric."
Sharon Flynn appeared recently in the August issue of Glamour magazine. She was featured in the "make-me-over" section which appears to be a helpful hints section for women who want to use their cosmetics for a new look. I have not seen the spread, but I am told that Sharon was used as an example of someone who made the transition from the collegiate look to the corporate look by simply getting a face-lift or a face-job or something along those lines. What a great idea! From a fun-loving undergrad, to a boring grey-suit, all in a matter of hours. All you need is some makeup and a new hairstyle.
Lynn Grant joined the growing list of newlyweds with her recent marriage to Chuck Blades, a '79 from Bonesgate. Mark Clayton was headed for the list on September 17. On that fateful day he was slated to wed Jennifer Lubrano, a Colby-Sawyer graduate. We wish Mark, Jennifer, and all the others on the married list the best we (and they) can possibly hope for. Your pain and suffering do not go unnoticed. We will remember you in our prayers.
Sally Adnopoz is with ABC Sports and is working her way up from the bottom. Her first assignment was the National Cow-Chip Throwing Championship in Texas.
Nash Ogden is putting his engineering degree to good use for Tampax Corporation somewhere in the New Hampshire area. Ted Trabue is working for the mayor of the District of Columbia as a staff assistant and is enjoying himself. Seth Swirsky is working for Chappell Music Company in New York and was recently promoted to professional manager. Seth won an ASCAP award over the summer for a musical score which was used in an off-Broadway play.
Brian Phillips and Mary Hart have also won honors which merit attention. They were both awarded Reynolds Scholarships by Dartmouth last spring. Brian plans to attend King's College in England and to pursue a master's in literature. He hopes to do his dissertation on Phillip Noel-Baker, a Nobel Peace Prize-winning labor politician who was a founder of disarmament theory and politics. Mary will study art at the Slade School, the Royal College of Art, or the Cass School in London. Suffice it to say that she will be studying at one of the better art schools in the world.
I think I have sufficiently incriminated my- self (and some of you) for now. Any comments or rebuttals should be submitted to the above address for "editorial review and revision."
