Warm winds may be blowing when this publication reaches your door, but today I am confronted with 18 inches of the white stuff. Snowed in. Winter has come to Wellesley with a vengeance. A pristine, white blanket covers my neighborhood. Kids dance by with sleds and skis. My shovel beckons. Well, let's put another log on the fire and go through the class mailbag.
First things first. The front page of the TheWellesley Townsman carries a picture of Katherine Kidder, wife of George Kidder, with their brand new baby, Stuart. Stuart was the first baby born in Wellesley in 1983. He joins George III, the Kidders' first son. George informs me that he wanted Stuart named George IV but somehow that idea was vetoed.
John Gault's engagement to Deborah Gutoff was announced on November 21, 1982, in The New York Times. John completed a year's graduate program in biochemistry at the University of Pennsylvania and received an M.B.A. from Pennsylvania's Wharton School. He is currently an associate with the public finance division at Lehman Brothers, Kuhn Loeb Inc. His bride is an attorney with Graham, Campaign and McCarthy. She was graduated from Cornell undergraduate and Hofstra Law School.
Now, a correction and an apology. I was mistakenly informed that Barry Brensinger was working as an elementary school principal in New Hampshire. Apparently, Barry has never had such a job. Barry is indeed residing in Manchester, N.H., but he is, and has been for some time, a principal partner in DLPA, a local architectural firm. In fact, his firm has grown into one of the largest architectural consulting firms in northern New England. Barry, congratulations on your true career and my apologies.
Lou Kartsonis writes the following from sunny California: "I completed my ophthalmology residency at the Mayo Clinic and moved to La Jolla, where I am in private practice. Sun-drenched beaches and California girls are pleasant changes from winters I can remember." Sounds pretty good, Lou.
The editors of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE forwarded to me a note from Chip Scott, with word of his marriage to Sharon Reddy in Phoenix, Ariz., on July 10, 1982. There was a strong Dartmouth delegation in attendance as they walked down the aisle: William Scott '42, Jim Scott '69, Cynthia Walcott '76, Woody McGinnis, and Daniel Stritter. Chip, congratulations to you and Sharon.
Finally, news of yet another marriage. Bill Gruen married Marg McDonald on May 1, 1982, in Washington, D.C. They created their own unique service and Bill's brother, Dietrich, was the minister. Both Bill and Marge taught together at the Burke School in Washington, where Bill is still on the faculty. Marge is now associated with the United Way.
That's it for now. Stay tuned next month for news about Jim Metzler, who is currently starring in the movie Tex. See you then.
