'65 in '85!

Come one, come all, to the best times '65 has had since, well, 1965. Are the following two dates on your calendars? October 19-21,1984 mini-reunion and June 13-16, 1985 20th reunion. If they aren't, get out that green pen and start circling.

You are the key to the success of both gatherings. So come alone or bring family, friends, dog, cat, even the Cabbage Patch doll, but come.

If you have been to a mini-reunion, you know how great they are, and I'm sure you're already signed up for this one. If you haven't attended, you don't know that you're missing a fantastic time and the best chance to get re acquainted with your classmates and with Dartmouth and renewed by that Big Green spirit.

In July a few of your executive committee members met in Old Saybrook, Conn., hosted by Bill Webster, to discuss details of both fall and spring gatherings. Jim Griffiths, mini-reunion chairman, talked about the fall fling. Key points include: headquarters, Pierce's Lodge in Etna, with spillover to the Sunset Lodge in Wilder; class meeting (reunion discussion) at 3:00 p.m. on Friday and 9:00 a.m. on Saturday; Dartmouth Night torchlight parade; pre-game '65 tent; Harvard vs. Dartmouth football (order your own tickets choice seats for this pre-reunion game); post-game reception/dinner at Pierce's, joint with '64. RSVP to: Jim Griffiths, '65 Mini-reunion, Ring Brook Farm, H.C. #64, Box 195, Lebanon, NH 03766, 603/448-3702.

Reunion chairman Larry Duffy is looking for ideas and helpers for next June's activity. He'll be sending reunion details soon, but plan to arrive early and stay late. There will be scheduled activities along with plenty of time to do your own thing. Potential highlights: arrive Thursday/Friday, through Sunday; headquarters at Fayer weather; DOC trip Friday or Saturday; '64 and '66 in town also; meet President McLaughlin; dinner at the DOC house; Reunion Run; computers and class meeting; and much more. Send Larry ideas what you want to do, ideas for class prn use some help, too, to make it all work volunteers are most welcome. Contact Larry as follows: Lawrence S. Duffy Jr., Director of Development, Harvard University School of Education, Longfellow Hall, Appian Way, Cambridge, MA 02138, 617/495- 3486.

Ted Atkinson and Carl Boe, reunion giving co-chairmen, reported that preparations are underway for a major gift effort this year. More later.

Others joining in our summer meeting in- cluded Dick Horton, class president JockHosmer, Weaver Gaines, Tucker Mays,Mike Orr, and yours truly. During a lull in the meeting, Mike gave several of us a tour through the world of golf club manufacturing at his nearby company, Sounder Sports. The only thing we didn't see was how the good shots are designed into the clubs.

I'm going to cut this short since I'm trying to make an early deadline. Hope to see a good many of you at Pierce's this fall or in Hanover next June. Keep the faith.
