We cannot close the book on this past summer's Olympics. An article crossed my desk this week describing the endeavors of another Olympian from our class. Dave DeMarco, who was captain of the varsity baseball team during our senior year, started at first base for the Italian Olympic baseball team. Dave was able to compete because he is a dual citizen of the United States and Italy. After graduating from Dartmouth, Dave refused to give up the national pastime. For five years he has played baseball in Italy and returned to the U.S. during the off-season to work. He is currently with Arthur Young and Company in Chicago and has a M.B.A. from Tuck. Dave's long-term goal is to pursue accounting full time. "It's been fun, and I figure I've gotten about eight more years of baseball than most of my teammates at Dartmouth. But I'm kind of getting to the point where my body is starting to give out and my conscience is telling me that it's time I started working for a living." A good guess is that "Duck" has a year or two left in the old body. With a month to go, he was seventh in the league in hitting with a .390 average.

Recently Vincent Pellegrini, an instructor and fellow in the departments of orthopedics and surgery (plastic) at the University of Rochester's School of Medicine and Dentistry, Rochester, N.Y., was awarded the North American Traveling Fellowship for 1984 by the American Orthopedic Association. As a result of the fellowship, Vin will tour major medical centers in the United States and Canada lecturing, observing, and introducing procedures in the orthopedic field. Vin is married to Lisa Marie Pellegrini and has a daughter, Gina Marie.

An August note from Stuart Kurland included the following: "I've just finished my Ph.D. in English at the University of Chicago. The dissertation, "The Drama of Politics: Shakespeare's Henry VIII and Jacobean England," probably won't be available soon at supermarkets everywhere, but I will be gainfully employed in 1984-85, teaching at Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y."

Our illustrious class president, Rich Bane, was jolted into action by a few lines which appeared in this column last June. The immediate effect was a detailed letter explaining his latest exploits, as well as those of a few classmates. Someone, perhaps the class secretary, remarked to Brian Deevy recently that love's labors seem to proceed at an accelerated pace as we approach and then transcend the watershed mark of 30 years of age. Well, last January Rich met Tami Greenberg at a wedding. Three weeks later they were engaged. This past August they walked down the aisle under the scrutiny of Chris Jenny, Mark Seigel, Todd Kenner, Dave Wood, and Mac Taylor. Tami is a financial planner in Boston while Rich is the chief of operations for a Boston firm which operates walk-in medical centers.

Thanks to Rich we also know that Sandy Wood has a new job with Shearson/American Express back in Hanover. Tom Bailey is masterminding a booming advertising business just outside of Boston. The firm's name is "Book'em." And, so as not to go a column without such news, Todd Kreminenski Kenner and his wife had a baby boy, Robert Farrell.

Betsy Cox Stebbins has continued to do a very fine job representing our class and working in conjunction with the class of 1927 on Dick's House. As a result of our volunteer dues donations the class will soon be giving to Dick's House the beginnings of an entertainment center.

Remember, most news is good news, and any news is printable. How about keeping us posted? See you in December.
