On the eve of the '43 Fall Reunion, the expected attendees are Andy and Clare Caffrey, Jim and Elizabeth Crawford, Harry and Barbara Denier, Charlie and Jane Does, Charles and Ruth Donovan, Jim and Rita Doucette, Bob and Joan Ehinger, Doc and Sue Fielding, Bob and Susie Gray, Tuss and Carol Hand, Frank and Margo Hartmann, Phil and Shirley Jackson, Hugh and Jeanne Lena, Ed and Dottie Lider, Bill Maeck, Herb Marx, Al and Jennie Mcßean, Don and Louise McCorkindale, Jack and Lil Meleney, Eddie and Lorraine O'Brien, Cal and June Osberg, Mort and Alese Pechter, John and Ann Pritchard, Dick and Lucy Proctor, Don and Connie Reich, Bud and Phyllis Silverstein, Fred and Marge Stockwell, Don and Leslie Taylor, Bill and Douggie Whitmarsh, Paul and Ruth Young; all in all, thirty classmates registered in advance, giving a possibility of breaking last year's record. See Herb Marx' Clanging Bells for the final listings.

Kelly Coffin writes from Atlanta that he and Janie will be unable to make the weekend, but possibly will be seen at Harvard. Kelly reported on his parents' (Jim and Ruth Coffin '16) 50th wedding anniversary that was celebrated in Atlanta with Kelly and Janie together with the HudKings and the Don Crances, as well as assorted non-'43 Dartmouth alumni. Kelly reports his boys, Tris (17) and David (15), were put out to work for the summer with Tris a senior now looking at colleges, Dartmouth included. As Kelly says, "After working in enrollment for 28 years, I feel just like any other father as the time draws nigh. At least he'll be prepped on what those ogre-type alumni want to hear during his interview with same!"

Speaking of alumni interviews PressBrooks called while he was in Washington a week or so ago. Unfortunately Press and Ellen are otherwise tied up and will miss their usual trip for the Fall Reunion. Press is president of the Cincinnati Dartmouth Club and reports that the local alumni interviewers are becoming discouraged in that marginally rated students are being accepted, while those who are extremely highly rated are being rejected. Incidentally, from the standpoint of interviewers, Press reports a good cross-section of men involved ranging from five to six years out of college through such old fogies as '43's. As to the question of coeducation, Press was emphatic that the College was not losing good students from the Cincinnati area by reason of not being coeducational.

It is disconcerting to receive reports such as Press', particularly since it is not the first passed on to your secretary. What about the rest of you? Are these isolated instances? Is it a common problem? Why not pass on your views, both pro and con to your secretary and/or Herb Marx.

For incidental information, George Munroe has been elected director of New York Life Insurance Company. Ed and DottieLider's son Bobby is spending this semester at Caen University in France under Dartmouth's Foreign Study Program. Al Crowley of telephone company fame in Boston is vacationing at parts unknown and BobKrumm was recently in Washington playing with Phil Bowie at the member guest tournament at Chevy Chase.

Bud Miskell in sending regrets about attending the Fall Reunion, reports that Paul Hanlon has moved his entire family back to Portland, Ore., after living in Milton Mass., for a few years. Paul's new address is 1115 S.W. King Street, Portland, Ore. 97205. Other new addresses are: Jeremy Blanchet, 3215 Newark St., N.W., Washington, D. C. 20008, William E. Brayton, Box 3085, Vero Beach, Fla. 32960; John H. Clark, 24505 Arcadia, Newhall, Calif. 91321; George D. Mason, 455 W. sth St., Reno, Nev. 89503; Paul R. Rill, 35 Cliffside Dr., Williamsport, Pa. 17701, William L. Thaxton Jr., 12020 Tall Oaks Rd., Houston, Tex. 77024.

Cal Osberg's class dues bill has a provision for class news on the reverse side. Use it!

In closing, we sadly call attention to the passing of Fred Lofgren. His widow Betty Jean resides at 218 East Central St., Natick, Mass. 01760. The deep sympathy of the Class is extended to her and their two children.
