This won't get to you until just before our mini-reunion. But should you get a late, great impulse it's October 16-18. See you then. President Tom Adams advises we far exceeded our goal for the Alumni Fund. Goal was $125,000—raisld $171,000. So much for the recession. Thanks, Tom, and all your agents and most of all, thank you, all you givers. The class of 1946 is alive and well. And Bud Baker writes to enthuse that our mini is still "alive and kicking." He and Judith attended her 50th at Cornell (and I suppose I'll catch whatever for giving the year). The Bakers are off to Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine in August, and Switzerland, East Austria and part of Germany in September. 'Round the girdled earth we roam—and then some! Margaret Fitchet (granddaughter of our late classmate Duncan Fitchet) was one of the three valedictorians for the class of 2008. Graduated with a perfect 4.0 GPA for four years. Also a Rufus Choate Scholar, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. Can only say wow, and that's an understatement! Spoke to Jean Weld, wife of David Weld. Also spoke to a friend of Walt Snickenberger. They are having some trying times. Both longtime leaders in our class. I have addresses for both if you'd like to write; call me for them. Spoke with "Obe" Obermayer. He's off to Japan this week to attend a conference with some journalistic bigwigs. Obe's finishing up another book. Not at liberty to divulge what it's about, but will when it's published.
With sadness I must report the death of these classmates: Frederick W. Embree, July 21; Bryan M. Battey, May 6; John M. Cowart, July 15; and Roger P. Lochhead, M.D., August 2. We extend our deepest sympathy to their families.
