just as we thought spring was going to be a little early this year/February roared out like a lion (while Mondale roared into New Hampshire like a lion and came out as meek as a lamb). March, we hope, will be true to form. By the time you read this, the crocuses and irises should be in bloom.

Joe Baute, chairman and CEO of the Marhem Corporation, was named a director of the Nashua Corporation, of which CharlieClough is CEO.

It was also announced recently that DickBressler has been named a director of General Mills if not currently, at least formerly another bastion of Dartmouth alums. Dick is CEO of Burlington Northern Inc.

I recently had a pleasant surprise when EdFinerty phoned to say hello. Ed was between planes at O'Hare and was homeward bound to Hong Kong after some IBM business meetings in the States. Ed was still all fired up about life in the Far East.

Alan Reich phoned and mentioned that he had recently had lunch with Herb Roth. Alan's son Geoffrey is employed by Georgevon Peterfy. George calls Greenwich, Conn., home, although he can he found abroad al most as often as at home.

Ceb Benisch was in the news recently with the announcement that his travel agency (Don Travel Service of New York City) had been awarded the contract to provide travel arrangements for the United Nations and two affiliated agencies. The three offices required to service the U.N. will bring to 28 the total number of Don Travel offices in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, and California. I would have to guess that if you were in the travel business, the U.N. account would be the plum account. Congratulations, Don.

I received some campaign material from the supporters of Julian Robinson, who they say will probably be the next mayor of Jersey City, N.J. Julian is a former member of the Alumni Council and was one of the founders of Jersey City's Dartmouth intern program. He has been very active in civic affairs. He was appointed by Governor Hughes in 1967 as one of the first members of the board of trustees of Jersey City State College. He was the first black to serve as a municipal department director and the first black to serve as acting mayor. Let's get out the vote for Julian!
