Given a fairly empty mail bag, it may be worthwhile this month to recap the comings and goings of various winter visitors who passed through or near Chez Doyle this year.

Seamus Hourihan arid his wife Amy dropped by while they were in the Palm Beach area. Seamus is concentrating his efforts on marketing a new desktop computer for Data General in Westboro, Mass., when not piloting his J-24 sailboat to first-place honors off Marblehead.

Next to make the sunshine scene were Jackand Cathy Joyce Brennan with their newborn son, William Thomas ("Willy"), in tow. Jack and Cathy live in St. David's, Pa., outside Philly, where Jack is assistant to the chairman of the Vanguard Group and Cathy works in the student placement/career counseling office at Bryn Mawr.

A busy schedule and a contingent of in-laws-in-residence kept me from seeing HankOswald as he passed through the Magic City before driving a friend's car back to lowa. Hank is active on the wedding circuit, which is now in at least its third revolution. He reported that the recent nuptials of former class scribe and reknowned bon vivant Greg "Fatonka" Cronin were a spectacular event in the Boston area. Hank also relayed news of Scott Spetk's wedding in Atlanta in late March. Those of you in attendance at either of the aforementioned galas are welcome to drop me a line with the details.

Column favorites Jeff Hillebrand, his wife Nini, and daughter Katherine stopped by for the now-infamous "booze cruise" of greater Fort Lauderdale. Rumors to the contrary notwithstanding, Jeff did not judge the "Best Buns on the Beach" contest held during spring break at a local watering hole known as the "Candy Store."

Class president Jay Josselyn, now settled into new digs in the Springfield, Mass., area, called to say that donations to the class-gift project are going well and that he's encouraged by the level of participation to date. Josh related that Wendy Simila and new spouse Walt Snickenberger are forsaking Beantown for the wilds of Wellesley Hills where, no doubt, Wendy finds ample opportunity to perfect her golf cart-driving abilities.

Finally, also from the Boston area, PeterJeton called to say that he and Nancy Kepes have settled in Andover, Mass., where Nance has taken a town-planning position. Jets has his same old postion(s) and his job in the "high-tech" lending group at the First National Bank of Boston.

As for the rest of you, I realize summer is finally here and you've got better things to do than write to the column, but please take a couple of minutes from the beach, golf, kayaking, cycling, swimming, climbing, or whatever it is you like to do in the summer (between innings and/or swallows for your callous chronicler) and drop me a line. Believe it or not, there are others interested in your whereabouts, etc; and if you don't cooperate, I'll be forced to resort to the "random-pick- off-the-address list story" school of journalism. So, write.
