Like March, April got away from me before I could get out a news-solicitation mailing. Lucky for me this is my last column until the October issue. Between now and then, I ought to be able to rustle up enough material to put together more than a few short column inches of type.
In spite of my own failings, the College Office of Alumni Records supplied me with the following items:
Sam Ostrow has been placed in charge of the financial/corporate/business-to-business group at Manning, Selvage, and Lee Inc., a worldwide public relations agency of which Sam is a senior vice president. His appointment is part of a general expansion of the firm. Sam is past president of the Chicago chapter of the National Investor Relations Institute, and his articles on the role of public relations in corporate takeovers have appeared in numerous professional journals. He's been with the firm since 1977.
Bill Engster, vice president, sales, for Heublein Spirits, a unit of Heublein Inc., has assumed total responsibility for all sales operations in behalf of the company's full line of alcoholic beverages. In his new position, Bill will have sales responsibility for such brands as Smirnoff vodka, Black Velvet Canadian whisky, Lancer's wines, Harvey's Bristol Cream sherry, Jose Cuervo tequila, and The Club cocktails. Bill has been with Heublein since 1970 and has previously served in a number of sales management positions.
And that's it for this month. Have a good summer. If you hear from me, don't hesitate to respond at length and in detail!
