Class Officers Weekend was a great success. Jim Tonkovich hosted .an executive committee meeting at his new home on Norwich Avenue in Wilder, Vt. Over burgers and beer, we reviewed head agent Mark Waterhouse's report: Class participation percentage in the Alumni Fund has moved ahead of last year while the giving level has declined. Please dig as deeply into your pockets as you can.
We chose the Penn football weekend, September 22, for our first mini-reunion at Hanover. The executive committee will hold its fall meeting concurrently; all classmates are welcome.
Mark Waterhouse has left community development to join FIP Corporation, a fullservice developer of business and industrial parks with an emphasis on design quality and environmental sensitivity. He has moved to West Hartford, Conn., from Milford. One of Mark's vice presidents is the son of Al Carlson, Dartmouth professor of economic geography for 43 years.
John McNamara is developing College Hill Condominiums in Hanover. His wife Linde works as administrative assistant in John's real estate office. John's daughter Diana is a Hanover High School student and son Kyle is in elementary school in Hanover.
While in Hanover, 1 found the newly-released second edition of Cross Country Skiingby Ned Gillette '67 and John Dostol. The book is readable, fun, and chronicles both the joys and pitfalls (pratfalls) involved in developing your skiing technique. John continues to teach skiing at the Trapp Family Lodge at Stowe and has written numerous articles on cross-country skiing.
For those of you who have access to back issues of the New York Times, pull out the March 15, 1984, issue and check out the advertising section. Chris Meigher's rise to publisher of People magazine is detailed. A true compliment for a job well done!
By the time you read this, you should all have received a letter from Steve Calvert and Stan Rosenberg explaining the '68 cohort study attempting to discover what effect the turbulent decade of the sixties had on us. Although no one is obligated to participate, your support will help Dr. Rosenberg develop a statistically significant sampling and is encouraged by your executive committee.
