As I write this, we have the first snowfall of the year: not much about three inches. Thus far it has been an open winter.

The Sandoes spent the Christmas holidays in California, visiting their son and numerous grandchildren. Nick says it was a little on the cool side. On arriving back in Boston he was told his luggage was lost; it did not arrive until two days later. The Stu Russells spent the holidays at the Cloisters in Sea Island, Ga. I am sure they enjoyed themselves.

A letter from Dorothy Loudon says Red is very ill in a hospital in New York. The ChetDe Monds are both having problems. Chet had a heart attack in December, and Virginia was in the hospital for an operation. I hope they are both better as you read this.

The Greeleys entertained five daughters and 19 grandchildren for Christmas. They were in Florida in October and while there visited the McCutcheons, who are now located in Boca Raton. I had a long talk on the telephone with Florence Stecher, who says she does not do much any more and then reeled off all the things she had done the previous month. I would conclude she is still very much "on the go." Peg Chadwell had an ear problem, but it has cleared up.

In the American Legion Magazine for December there is a long article on John Fornacca, whom they designate the Legionnaire of the Month. They conclude by saying, "John Fornacca has spent the better part of his life volunteering his considerable business and executive experience to help veterans."
