President Nick Sandoe continues to write brilliantly in the 1919 Smoke Signal. I quote from a recent issue: "And now I hear a committee has been formed to consider what should be done about our

Alma Mater song 'Men of Dartmouth.' My own suggestion is to disband the committee and forget the whole thing and continue to sing 'Men of Dartmouth' happily together as generations of the Dartmouth family have done since it was written one hundred years ago by Richard Hovey and Harry Wellman." Amen.

I have talked several times to MaryDavis, who is recovering nicely from her hip operation. She says Jim has his good days and his bad days. Who doesn't? Occasionally I see Elizabeth Huntoon, who is the widow of our Slim and who lives here at North Hill. She is well.

John McCrillis called and in the course of the conversation said they had plenty of snow in Newport, N.H. Nick Sandoe and I had lunch with Mary Sandoe at the Ritz in Boston. They are both well.

The writer is struggling trying to cope with living alone after sixty years of marriage to a wonderful person.
