I had lunch recently with President Nick Sandoe. He had just returned from a Christmas holiday on the Pacific Coast visiting his son. He plans to go back again in March to attend a wedding of a grandson. Incidentally, Nick has agreed to write this column for the next two months while I am away.
I also had lunch with Nock Wallis. He is well and, to quote him, "feels the best he has in years." Nock said to tell everyone to get an alumni fund contribution in early. He is still active with musical affairs in his church.
Eleanor Sleeper writes, in reference to the notice she received about the book being placed in the library, "I am sure Newman would feel honored; and I would like to express my appreciation and my thanks for having been notified."
Al Rayner writes to say Helen is doing better healthwise and would have a much more comfortable winter than last year. A letter from Eleanor McCrea says she is busy running the winery and recovering from the "flue" bug. She also gave me some information I had previously received from another source. Being an honest reporter, I do not feel I should publish it until it is confirmed and this the principal has not yet done.
We have lost another of our loyal classmates. Joe Eisaman died in Pittsburgh on December 24. A formal obituary notice will appear later.
Bea is better and we leave for Arizona on February 1.
