Reservations are being held at the Chieftain for the weekend of May 2-3, 1985 (Class Officers Weekend), with ten rooms available, and for the class mini-reunion, October 10-11, 1985 (the Colgate game), with 20 rooms available. These reservations must be confirmed directly by the class members before March 1 for the spring meeting (I have requested a slightly longer holding period for this spring meeting) and before July 1, 1985, for the October meeting. The Chieftain's address is Route 10, Hanover, NH 03755.
A green card from Warren Cook says that his monograph on "Occupational Exposure Limits Worldwide" is now in press. He is pleased to have been selected to present the opening address of an international symposium under the sponsorship of the World Health Organization and the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists in April in Copenhagen. Congratulations. He also wonders if it is ethical for a Dartmouth man to use the 13-cent stamp with the engraving of "Crazy Horse."
Reports have come in of the death of several widows. Jean Colby has lost her mother and Charlie Zimmerman has lost his sister, Elsie. Mildred Hunter, widow of both PaulHunter and Stan Ungar, has died. May they rest in peace.
Pete Jones is back on Hope Sound in the Bahamas for the winter. Dwight Keef is in Tucson and California for the winter. JulesRippel now enjoys being chairman of the Rippel Foundation, with fewer working hours. John Guppy had an abdominal aneurism repaired and is now "pretty shaky." JohnMcGrath says he has seven great-grandchildren and 24 grandchildren and hopes that at least one will carry on the Dartmouth tradition.
Congratulations to Bud Freeman, who still puts in a six-day week and 40 miles of commuting. He is almost certainly a workaholic. He also does a great job for the class and the College.
Howard Emerson is now living at 1433 Church Street, Zachery, LA 70791. He and Fanny would be glad to see any classmates in the area.
The list of commemorative bowl awards, given to those who have contributed to the Alumni Fund for 60 consecutive years, is published annually. The 1983 list included Howard Alcorn, Vincent Baldwin, RonaldBriscoe, Francis Donovan, Pete Jones, BobMaxwell, Ike Phillips, Jules Rippel, DickTownsend, Win Wadleigh, Jerome Werner, and Charlie Zimmerman. The 1984 list included Chet Bixby, Tom Burch, Charlie Chabourne, Fred Clark, Walt Friend, PalmerHarmon, Art Little, Mitch May, Henry Perkins, Phil Segal, Ruel Smith, and CarletonWhite. The Alumni Office says that this is "an impressive list." The class congratulates each and all of you. Clarence Goss, who seems to be in rea-
sonably good health, for an octogenarian, says that Kip Couch is recovering from the old man's disease, to wit: prostatic surgery.
Monk Keith writes from Costa Rica that things "ain't" what they used to be and hopes the war in Nicaragua will not spill over into Costa Rica. Monk also knows that there are many things that "ain't" what they used to be. Even the practice of medicine is considerably changed. Who among us has not noticed that?
Don't forget, if you are coming up to Hanover either in May or October, make your reservations early.
