Once more we scrounge for personal notes from our classmates with little results. Don't be bashful. Give us what you have, either good or bad. Your old friends want to know what's going on with their old classmates. Remember these are the most read columns in the Alumni Magazine. Now a few personals.
Last August Cap Palmer, from whom I get most of my news, was involved in an accident without serious injury if any. This time it was with a motorcycle and not a skateboard. Lets hope the striking force does not increase in size, or, better still, let's hope this is the last. Jules Rippel is quite recovered from coronary artery surgery.
The recipients of the Opal and CharlesZimmerman Fund are reported as doing well. One rates an A cumulative average, the other a C.
Bud Freeman, probably our longest full-time worker, has at long last retired. He will, however, continue with our class fund.
Monk Keith has sent me several short notes recently. Apparently he has had some surgery in New York and recovery was for nine months as a resident at the Waldorf Astoria, courtesy of the American Bank Note Company. Monk's son is with American Bank Note and, with the help of Monk, gave his company the largest order that the company ever had. Monk's address is Apartado 935-1000 San Jose, Costa Rica.
Here at North Hill in Needham we have just held our second annual meeting of the Dartmouth residents. There are 28 of us, including wives and widows. Three class secretaries had dinner together last night.
At a very recent meeting of the New England newsletter editors, Professor Charles Woods spoke about the newsletters and also about the College. You will get more of this from Cap Palmer. His recommendations among others were: 1) there should be a review of the alma mater song due to coeducation, 2) a better crisis management, 3) better communication with the alumni about campus activity problems, and 4) better ways to tell the freshman of the opportunities offered by the College. And now, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and may you all have good health and good cheer.
