From Alice Weymouth, erstwhile Class Notes pinch-hitter: "President Sherm's plea for a new class secretary has been answered (one suspects some of his expert but relatively painless arm-twisting), and I am happy to urge that notes-worthy items be sent to the above address. Nancyand Pat Holbrook (one of the class's football notables) are famed as gracious post- game and post-reunion hosts. Nancy and I have made a mutual-aid compact for notes and newsletters, and we join in an earnest request for 'all the news that's fit to print' from as many of you as possible. If you yourself can't write, please have a family member or friend send tidings."

Ort Hicks '21 has forwarded a good letter from his old Phi Gam friend Russ Cotner of Sun.City, Calif., with a "thumbnail sketch" of Russ's long career (1929- 1963) with the Southern Division of Fiberboard Products, Inc., and his less strenuous retirement days. Russ recently sent the College a signed postcard from Teddy Roosevelt, and we hope to learn the story behind it to share later.

Also from '21: E. Vance Clark sent Alice a snapshot he had taken at the 1920 Olympics in Belgium, showing "Tommy"Thomson signing autographs for admirers who had seen him win a hurdles race. With the request that the photo be sent to Tommy's widow Anne, Vance sent best wishes to "all of 1920." (Do any classmates have reminiscences of Tommy and the 1920 Olympics?)

From Sherm Adams comes word that Laura Carter has written him that she is considering a trip to Virginia this fall. Wonderful news! Laura, living with daughter Kit (Mrs. Douglas Stevenson) at 3934 W. Kelton Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85023, would love to hear from anyone in the 1920 family.

Sherm himself was planning to spend the first two weeks in September in southern Colorado visiting relatives and friends and "enjoying a change of venue." By now he should have safely weathered any of Colorado's freak early snowstorms and be back among his own New Hampshire hills.

Eva Hill writes from the "classy" (20 Dartmouth St.) address she and "Buttons" shared in Rutland that she is "wonderfully well for her age" and had recently made a trip to the Mountain View House in the White Mountains with one of her bridge clubs, where they "did everything but play bridge."

As always, the Holbrooks extend a warm welcome to any and all '20s who return to Hanover. In case you don't know the way to our home in nearby Eastman, our phone number is 603/863- 1234.

Alumni Records has sent news of the death of Mel Merritt in Delray Beach, Fla., on August 12. We all mourn the passing of a classmate active in class and college alumni affairs.

It would be great to have many more names for November notes. We don't want to have to depend on 1921 for news of 1920!
