Joe Nason wins the class prize for being the most on self-destruct. As reported by Wally Farr, Joe first took his partner's tennis racket in the face with resulting gashes and bruises and then a few days later pulled or broke some vital leg ligaments. These he refused to worry about until he very nearly was reduced to wheelchair status. All of these wounds were earned on vacation in Florida, where, the ads suggest, one should be relaxed on beach or boat. President DickRugen is also part of this ribald Floridain-winter crew.
Rusty Hartranft wins the class prize for best correspondent or being most considerate of nerve-wracked secretaries. His latest welcome note reports having been on vacation in Bermuda. Art Cox joined the Hanover and environs group in August, vacationing at his farm in Fairlee, Vt. Art told us that a combination of aspirin and special exercises has him back on the tennis court despite arthritis in his knees. Art has not yet any thoughts of retiring. "As long as someone will pay me to speak and write, both very pleasant ego trips, why should I quit?"
Wally Farr won't quit either, claims he's addicted to his plywood business. BobSearles keeps busy in real estate but not too busy to keep him from suntanning that handsome profile on his fancy East Wheelock Street deck. Bob Kirk finds his hands full with his responsibilities as a Hanover selectman. Serves him right. Fame must be paid for, in full.
The class prize for derring-do must go to Bob Schuette who now flies powered airplanes as well as gliders. A1 Britton and your secretary serve on the Hitchcock Clinic board and both now believe that the College, clinic, hospital and medical school are marching to the same drum toward an exciting new medical campus which will add to Dartmouth's luster in the 21st century.
Our annual fall mini-reunion comes up on October 24-25. Don't miss it if you can help it for it's always lots of fun.
