John Skirius writes to say that he recently traveled in Uruguay and Argentina. John is an associate professor of Spanish at the University of California, Los Angeles. The results of the Alumni Fund are in, and our class had a 62.2 percent participation rating and a total of $91,356 raised. Not bad but not great.

You may have noticed recently that our class notes have been missing now and again. That is a case of "no news is bad news." In the early going of this job, I sought out news (mostly by phone) when none was sent to me. I have found, however, that it is easier for those of you with news you want printed to find me than it is for me to find you. This means that occasionally there will be no column. If any of you have suggestions or perhaps wish to take over for awhile, please let me know.
