From the Windy City and the land of the Bears, Mike Klupchak writes that he is now practicing law and specializing in labor relations with a 15-attorney firm. Mike and his wife, Sharon, live near De Paul University in Chicago. Sharon recently received her M.B.A. from Northwestern University. In his letter Mike points out that he also went to Northwestern Law, School ("home of the football program almost as unsuccessful as the Big Green's"). Mike reports that he recently attended his fourth Dartmouth graduation in June with the graduation of his brother, Tom 'B5. Four Klupchaks have now graduated from Dartmouth. Besides Mike and Tom, their brother Rick, of football fame, graduated in 1974, and brother Bill graduated in 1977.

Reunion chairman and former class scribe Steve Quigley reports that Suzanne is expecting number-two child in April 1986. Congratulations and best wishes.

Vandy Van Wagener sent word from Cincinnati that he was recently promoted to advertising manager of the bar soap and household cleaning products division of Procter and Gamble. He is currently handling the marketing of 17 brands including Ivory Soap, Mr. Clean, Comet, Downy, and Bounce. Vandy reports that "sons Brian and David are four and two, respectively, while a third is in the oven. My wife Betty is completing her doctorate, and I will soon be on the short end of Dr. and Mrs. Van Wagener." It may be that as you read this, Vandy and Betty's third has made his or her arrival.

It's great to see that our class is so well represented in the performing arts in New York City. Mike DeVries recently relocated in New York City to pursue an acting career. Since that time he has done two shows with the Manhattan Light Opera, and he has been involved with the production of Kismet with the Darien (Conn.) Dinner Theater. He had also done four commercials and was recently in Florida playing Don Quixote in Man ofLa Mancha.

Max Epstein has also been making headlines in New York, but in his case it has been as a conductor with the New York Metropolitan Opera. After Dartmouth, Max toured Europe for ten years conducting with various operas and symphonies. He conducted for seven years in Germany and also did some free-lance work in Italy and Portugal. He recently made his debut conducting the New York Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center. At Dartmouth, Max will be remembered as a conductor of the Dartmouth Symphony Orchestra and for his role in conducting the musical Guys and Dolls.

Finally, apologies to my good friend and class president Wayne Davis. Timing is everything, and when I wrote a previous column about Wayne's new job as a broker, the stock market was uninspiring. However, by the time the magazine hit your respective doorsteps, we were in the midst of a raging bull market. No doubt this was due to Wayne's involvement. ElPresidente, mea culpa and good luck!

That's all the news for now. See you next month.
