Mail was pretty thin this month, but I have
at least some class news to pass on.
Mike Neary has been promoted to director of sales at the Rock Resorts corporate office in New York City. Rock Resorts is owned by Lawrence S. Rockefeller, brother of the former vice president and Dartmouth trustee, Nelson Rockefeller. The company manages luxury resort properties including the Woodstock Inn in Vermont, Caneel Bay in the Unit- Ed States Virgin Islands, Little Dix Bay in the British Virgin Islands, and Jackson Lake Lodge in Wyoming's Grand Teton National Park. A new Rock Resort property The Boulders will open in Carefree, Ariz., in late 1984. In his new position, Mike will be responsible for sales activity for all Rock Resort's properties, working with travel agents and directing group sales. Mike joined Rock Resorts in 1976 as director of sales for the Woodstock Inn and Resort. In 1978 he was promoted to manager of the Woodstock Country Club and the Suicide Six ski area, both of which are part of the Woodstock Inn and Resort. Before joining Rock Resorts he served for two years as assistant manager at the Hanover Inn and also worked as a member of the sales staff of the Clift Hotel in San Francisco. Mike and his wife Susan are now living in Katonah, N.Y., while he works out of the Manhattan office of Rock Resorts.
Our man in Hollywood, Jim Metzler, is following up his hit movie Tex with a co-starring position in a new weekly drama being broadcast on CBS. Alec Baldwin, Shelley Hack, and Jim star as three young doctors at a worldfamous Texas medical center in "Cutter to Houston."
Congratulations are due to Donna Ferretti, who received a special citation from the Dartmouth Alumni Fund for "outstanding performance" as a head class agent during the 1983 campaign. Donna did a magnificent job and worked long, hard hours for the College. The citation ,was well deserved. Classmates may be hearing from Donna or Paul Sehl in coming months in connection with contributions to mark our tenth reunion.
On a different level, congratulations are also due to Paul Frangos. Paul married Elise Manley last October. Elise is a graduate of Simmons College and holds a degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She is currently an English teacher at Brookline High School. After, Dartmouth, Paul went on for a master's in business administration at the University of Virginia. He is currently an international marketing manager at Parker Brothers in Beverly, Mass. Congratulations to you both.
Bob Glovsky continues to write a regular column on financial planning for the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. Bob also represented Dartmouth at the inauguration of Daniel S. Chever Jr. as president of Wheelock College in Boston on October 6.
Finally, Reunion Chairman Steve Quigley has asked me to keep the drum beating for our tenth this June 15-17. We are hoping for a record turnout. If any of you are interested in running for any class office, whether it be president, treasurer, secretary, the executive committee, etc., please contact me at your earliest convenience so that proper arrangements can be made for elections at the time of the reunion.
You may not be receiving this issue of the Magazine until Christmas time or shortly thereafter, so I wish you all a (possibly belated) Merry Christmas and best wishes for the New Year! See you next month.
