Nicholas North was recently promoted to vice president of American Brands International Corporation, a subsidiary of American Brands, Inc. Nick moves to this new position from his dual role as director of international corporate planning for Acushnet Company and director of Asia/ Pacific market development of American Brands International Corporation. Nick recently played a key role in opening a liaison office in Tokyo to provide assistance to American Brands subsidiaries seeking expansion in Asian markets.

Richard Saltman, an associate professor of public health at the University of Massachusetts, has received a Fulbright award and will be working for the National Public Health Institute in Helsinki, Finland. He will study the relationship between Finland's primary care sector and hospital sector in order to determine the relationship between physician's attitudes and budgets.

And finally, Barry McCracken has been elected president of the Connecticut Society of Certified Financial Planners. Judging by the letterhead, Barry works for the Guardian Life Insurance Company in Newington, Conn.
