Not much news from you people. In protest, I constructed a shanty over my secretary's word processor. Then, I tore the shanty down in the dark of night, about the time I get off work. For my actions of non-billable time, I have been sentenced to three-to-four additional years of hard labor as an associate. Such is the real world.

Emily Smith Lisberger sent a thoughtful note my way. She and husband Rob Smith '79 are alive and well and living in New York City. They are happy their loft is finally complete. Perhaps they can give the Doonesburys some pointers.

Joel S. Chansky has achieved the distinction of Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society. Joel is a portfolio manager and investment analyst with the American

Farm Bureau of Park Ridge, III. Now that you have all settled down from that exciting news, you will be glad to know that Robert J. Laflam Jr., M.D., will not go through life alone. He recently married the lovely Maureen E. McCarthy of Amherst, N.H. Rob remains at the cutting edge of society as a surgical resident at St. Luke's Hospital, Cleveland.

Scott Herman made good on his engagement to Kimberly "Kim" J. Markel and married her. Regina Rehkamp was at the wedding and reports that it was "splendid." Regina says that Kim is a "vivacious" Colorado woman. Hugh Shipman, George Springsteen, John Hall, and Steve Pope all made appearances as well.

Regina is in law school at Fordham. She wrote that she looked like a zombie at the wedding because she had just completed finals. Regina asked that I not publish any photographs from the wedding that Steve might send my way. Regina, not to worry.

In closing, I ask on behalf of the class of '80 and the College that all of you give to the Alumni Fund. For those of you concerned about the goings-on in Hanover (and no matter your ideological vantage point, you can probably find some reason to be concerned), you should be proud that Dartmouth remains an exciting and dynamic place. If that doesn't salve your feelings, you should remember that the College is much more than any current administrators, faculty members, or group of students with whom you might disagree. Dartmouth is your college. Please give.
