The summer doldrums would seem to have arrived early. As this is written (mid-April), news of classmates is limited. While on vacation remember to send your secretary a postcard.

Strategic Research and Management Services has named Carl Marshall a senior vice president and manager of its new economic consulting services division. Carl's group will provide market and investment feasibility research, economic development, and real estate consulting services for both public and private clients nationwide. SRMS services the Defense Department and other federal, state, and local government agencies as well as nonprofit organizations and private businesses. Carl has been involved in economic consulting in the Norfolk area for a number of years and was both author and project manager for the Evergreen Financial Program which has become an industry demographic standard for financial institutions in the East Coast, Ohio, and Colorado. Congratulations, Carl.

New York Life Insurance Company finally caught up with Lee Gammill, after Lee's 29 years of West Coast living, made him a senior vice president, and returned him to the East Coast. Lee will be responsible for the company's major product lines nationwide. For the moment the Gammills will be jet-setting/red-eyeing across the country with an apartment in New York while maintaining their home in the San Francisco area. Their children are already in the East, one at college, the other at prep school. Well done, Lee. You will find lacrosse better in the East, but tennis is a toss-up.

A friend sent me a bumper sticker which read, "Have you hugged your goalie today?" It's a good thought to end on as we begin the summer. Find someone to hug. Your wife, your kids, your grandchildren, good friends. They'll be better for it. So will you, and the rest of the world. Peace.
