Eric Wilinski is in the process of writing two books. The first, entitled 1001Things to Do with a Resume, should hit Crown Books in no time. Among the highlights "Good resumes are just about the perfect size to use as Mr. Coffee filters. . . . It's both fun and educational to use your resume as a dipstick rag when checking the oil in your car. . . . Now you can avoid those annoying thirddegree burns by using five or ten folded resumes when handling hot dishes and plates." No, Eric didn't think of toilet paper. Too easy. Consider buying the book as a gift for your favorite 'B7.
The second book, Inferno of Desire, involves corruption, intrigue, the CIA, the cutting edge of technology, revolution in Central America, a plot to trigger a series of volcanoes, and of course, that wonderful thing we call love. .
Eric explained that he's held a series of jobs since graduation. During the summer he ran a paramilitary operation in Angola, but was not at liberty to discuss it. After Christmas, Eric went to the West Indies to play in a hot steel band. He did the resort circuit and found life on the road to be tough. While in the Caribbean, he took a side trip to Jamaica, where he got really into the reggae scene. He had a brief affair with Rita Marley, but the highlight of the trip had to be when he played to 40,000 Rastas with Black Uhuru. Most recently, Eric could be seen selling hot pretzels and chestnuts outside Madison Square Garden.
Kathy DeLelo wrote on some pretty official-looking Boston College department of mathematics paper. She's halfway through her master of science in teaching program at 8.C., where she's playing the dual role of teacher and student. Kathy spent the summer teaching in a program for minority students at B.C. and has been in touch with several classmates, including Beth Snell. Beth is happy with her job at NERA (National Economic Research Associates) and finds time to play lacrosse. Kathy has also heard from Brenda Healey, who was temporarily in Australia doing work for Merrill Lynch. Kathy Gussman is doing graduate work in psychology at Tufts. Brad Davis and Nik Nesbitt, both in the Thayer School, went to Turkey for their spring break.
The Washington, D.C., crew is doing well. Meredith McClintock managed to convince S.P.A. to send her to London on a case. Lisa Reynolds and Emily Barnett have headed to Seattle to build an honestto-goodness log cabin. Elizabeth Evans, who is working on the Hill for a Wisconsin representative, woke up at 4:30 a.m. to stand in line to see Gramm-Rudman argued before the Supreme Court. What a dedicated fan of constitutional law! (Starzinger should be proud!)
Jennie Moffitt works for Guggenheim Productions, a documentary film production company in Georgetown. LisaWiersma is at Wilmer, Cutler, and Pickering but plans on going to San Diego this fall for a master's degree in telecommunications. Lisa Reilly successfully completed year one at George Washington University Law School, loving every minute of it.
Wayne Fleisig has been busy over the last year. He was working as a mental health paraprofessional at a partial hospital program in Rockland County, N.Y. Wayne's responsibilities included co-leading group therapy, individual counseling, and family therapy. Though he loved his job, Wayne's real love is playing center field for his softball team and relaxing by his pool. Let's hope he did a lot of that, because the next five years of his life will be spent at the State University of New York at Albany's Ph.D. program in clinical psychology on a Presidential Fellowship. Unless something important happens (like he becomes centerfielder for the Mets or gets married), we won't hear from him again until 1991.
To the west of the Rockies we have Taylor Conlan, who has taken the DJ business back to California and taken on a new partner, a buddy from grade school. The business is alive and well in the High Desert and Los Angeles areas so any Dartmouth alums in the area can feel free to give him a call at 619/243-6811.
Taylor's DJ business is actually only a part-time job now. On a full-time basis he's with Bank of America as an assistant branch manager. Taylor's living with Brian Smith, who is currently working for Roadway Express as a supervisor. Brian and Taylor recently road tripped to the east coast for a reunion of the "B-team" and lived to tell about it.
Greg Goulette is working for IBM in White Plains, N.Y., but living in Stamford, Conn. Tim Reynolds is with Pepsi- Cola in marketing in NYC and was last heard negotiating a deal with Tina Turner. Billy McAllister met with some Argentinian folks and "habla'd" with them, ending up as vice president of their corporation. Apparently he didn't understand them too well, so he couldn't explain what it was that the corporation actually does. Details, details.
Taylor saved the best news for last in his letter he's engaged, as of April, to Kym Fahlbeck '84. Kym is currently working for a publisher, Prentice-Hall, and is a college representative for them in Arizona. They are obviously hoping for a transfer to California, especially since Bank of America doesn't have any branches in Arizona. The wedding is planned for February a great time for all their eastern buddies to make a trip to sunnier climates!
Congratulations are also in order for Billy and Nancy Budd on the birth of their son, William Brewster Budd III, and also to Jennifer and Mark Hansen, who were married in Rollins Chapel in October and are residing in Hanover.
