Again, Sandy McGinnis and his horde of "Team '64s" have surpassed the class Alumni Fund goal and have gone on to set a College record. The class of 1964 raised $178,869, which sets a record for a class of our seniority (ugh!). We ranked first in our group by virtue of outstanding participation from 74 percent of the class. Congratulations to all.

John Lincoln was named president of Ventrex Laboratories, Inc., a Portland, Maine, biotechnology company which he co-founded. Formerly executive vice president and general manager, he continues as chief operating officer.

Plantronics, Inc., a leading manufacturer of specialty telephone products has named Alan Davis to the position of director of marketing. Alan's responsibilities include planning and implementing all phases of the company's marketing effort for its product line which apparently includes the nation's best-selling line of telephone headsets (does that sound like a plug?).

In June it was announced that Jay Meltzer was elected to the posts of general counsel and corporate secretary of Zayre Corp. Jay joined Zayre in 1984 as vice presidentcorporate counsel. Previously he had been at Damon Corporation where he served as vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary. A graduate of Hahvahd Law School, Jay is also a member of the American Society of Corporate Secretaries and past president of the Route 128 Corporate Lawyers, Inc.

On October 17 our class will be holding a mini-reunion in Boston to coincide with the H-D football game. This will give everyone a good excuse to come to New England at the height of the foliage season. The reunion will take place at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Cambridge following the game.

The Dartmouth Alumni Association of Eastern Massachusetts is sponsoring a dinner and evening of entertainment at the Marriott at Copley Place on Friday the 16th to welcome James Freedman, the new Dartmouth president. The College has reserved a block of rooms at the Marriott, and our class has reserved rooms at the Westin at Copley Place and at the Embassy Suites. Call those hotels if you will be needing overnight accommodations.

By way of a small observation, out of 32 applications from sons and daughters of '64s received by the College for admission in September, Dartmouth accepted 24 into the class of 1991.
