Please excuse any disorganization in this column. Yes, the deadline hit me before I knew it, leaving me a half an hour to write it and get it in the morning's mail.

2nd Lt. Charla McMillian just finished training at the Basic School (U.S.M.C.) in Quantico, Va. Her new duty station is at Camp Pendleton, Calif. Located midway between L.A. and San Diego, Charla can enjoy the sun, the surf, the nightlife, and still fulfill her duties as a Marine Corps intelligence officer. Not a bad life!

David Carson clerked for the summer in Dallas for Jackson, Walker, and in Atlanta for King & Spalding. He's already accepted a federal judicial clerkship following Graduation next May. John Holleran and LauraHicks are both doing well. They both clerked this summer in Richmond, then Laura went to Miami and John went to Houston.

Steven Brookner will be starting the M.B.A. program at NYU this fall, and is contemplating joint J.D./M.B.A. He also bought a great apartment overlooking the East River, now is looking for a roommate who knows how to tap a keg. Any 'Bss out there who fit the bill?

Elizabeth Scarborough left her job as a paralegal to go to the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence. Karen Jewett spent the summer as dockmaster at nearby Mystic Seaport in Connecticut. Apparently Karen's dating the captain of a 100-foot schooner, while Elizabeth's seeing the first mate. Nautical, but nice.

Mike Clarkin finished his M.S.E.E. at UC Santa Barbara in March, and has joined Hewlett-Packard in San Jose as an applications engineer. Pam Quanrud is in the foreign service and will leave for her first tour Kingston, Jamaica at the end of October.

Kathy Gussman moved in with her fiance, Eric, who is a chef and a philosopher. Kathy is working on her master's thesis in psychology at Tufts. She's also doing temporary work in word processing and social work, having had assignments with emotionally disturbed teenagers, retarded adults, and crippled or autistic children.

John MacManus got engaged on his birthday (August 5) to Cindy Bergman. Cindy's in her third year at Georgetown Medical School doing her rotations and learning what being a doctor is really like. John's working for Peat, Marwick, Main & Cos., consulting and working on an assignment for NASA promoting the commercial opportunities in space to business and industry.

Debbie Willing and Dan Carson tied the knot in August. Debbie is a tax accountant at Arthur Young in Boston, while Dan is in his third year of med school at the University of Indiana. After honeymooning in beautiful Bermuda, Debbie and Dan will live in Winchester. Check page 70.

Bert Merriam, Greg Cappello, and KenJones are recuperating at home after a seven-week, 11,000-mile trek around the U.S. Their only comment: "May we never see another bag of Doritos!"

Lisa Eisenberg quit her job at CorporateDecisions in June, and has been thoroughly enjoying the retired life. After moving from Beacon Hill to Harvard Square, Lisa picked up her bike and headed to China, where she spent an entire month cycling! Upon her return, she partied and suntanned and tried to have as much fun as possible before Harvard Business School begins this fall.

After a long, wonderful trip around Europe with Ray Agostinelli right after graduation, Sally Spiers started a career in the theatre. She's been working in the professional theatre for the past two years, one season in Kansas City at the Missouri Rep, and one season at the Virginia Stage Company. Sally has spent the last three summers in Hanover with the Dartmouth Summer Rep. This fall, she'll take a short break to avoid theatre burn-out, and will work with a glass artist in Vermont and mellow out with the New England Artists Community. She's having a great time, and is unsure about what's next, though the Peace Corps is a definite possibility.
