Thanks to Susannah Gaylord for writing a terrific column last month! It's very difficult to come up with fresh news every month, so everyone's help is welcome.

Laura Abrahamsen wrote a nice letter with news of her life since graduation. She's been in graduate school at Bryn Mawr College, "where the undergraduates wear more black and smoke more French cigarettes than anyone who hung out in the Hopkins Center snack bar." Laura's working toward her doctorate in the classics, and should receive her M.A. in May. Her master's thesis is "Catullus's Literary Heir" and it's about the way Martial imitates and alludes to the poetry of Catullus. She said that if I printed that, it would truly be a sign that I am desperate to fill space. True!

More exciting than the title of her thesis, however, is the fact that Laura's going to be married at the end of the summer to Sterg Lazos '84. That will hardly be a surprise to anyone who knows them, but I imagine it will be good news to everyone who was on their fall 1983 Roman Foreign Study Program, as that's where it all began. Those LSA and FSP programs are amazing!

Laura and Sterg plan to have two '85s in the wedding party, Lisa Humphrey and Linda Blockus. Lisa lives in San Francisco, where she works as a "litigation consultant" with the Bovy Group. Linda is currently working for the Massachusetts Municipalities Association in Boston.

Wedding bells rang in Virginia on March 21 for the marriage of Bob Saylor '86 and Karen Van Ness. Several Dartmouth folks were invited to and/or in the wedding party. Among them: Corinne Heyes '82, Gail Koziara '82, Deb McCoy '84, DanFreeh, Ray Holtorf '86, and Laura Goodman '86. Bob and Karen honeymooned on Paradise Island before returning to their home in Arlington. Bob is a group manager at Hecht's Department Store in D.C., while Karen is an account executive with Citibank.

It's been almost two years since' graduation, and some of our classmates are venturing out to find fame and fortune someplace other than their first place of employment.

Carole Crelin recently quit her job as a copywriter for Bambergers' to have more time and energy for her musical career. To maintain a steady income she's working as a fulltime receptionist at a small New York advertising agency. At the rate she's going, she won't even need to do that! Carole's singing in clubs all over the city! In March, Carole was at the Duplex in the village. Alums in the area, watch for her!

Donna Fraser's birthday was her last day at work at Ted Bates in New York. She is heading west to San Francisco. DavidSearby left for Argentina to work as a research analyst. For four months, David will study Soviet/Argentine economic relations at the Catholic University of Buenos Aires. A Washington think tank is picking up the tab!

Did anyone see the cover of Olympian magazine a few months ago? I heard that Tiger Shaw was on the cover!

That's all for this month. Next month's column will be brought to you from MimiReilly and Chris Hessler, our Cincinnati crew.
