I was in Hanover right around the new year. It wasn't real cold. There wasn't a whole lot of snow. But it was nice. Vacation was just ending and students were coming back. The hockey team played a good game against UVM, but lost. At the time they were on an "unroll." Many things seemed familiar. It was easy to drift back, then I got home to find a letter from Bill Higgins announcing his daughter Molly's acceptance to Dartmouth on early decision! There is no getting around it. We're getting old.

Bill writes in longhand in this day of word processors. And I thought I was a luddite! Bill and Jane Higgins "... have two boys: Mark, a sophomore in H.S., and John, 7th grade. Jane is a field supervisor for a market research firm, and I am with a local (regional?) brokerage firm that specializes in investment banking." Bill stays in touch with Bob Nash, who is a partner of Chapman and Cutter in Chicago. The Nashes have three daughters, four to 14.

KMG Main Hurdman international accounting and consulting firm announced the formation of new management group to be headed by Warren Riley. Warren is a former principal of the Resource Development System, which is designed to serve the needs of management and marketing for non-profits. Warren has been in the management consulting field for ten years. I'm confused by the title, but a KMG partner writes that the group headed by Riley will "give KMB an important competitive edge in pursuing the U.S. non-profit market which is estimated at $200 billion!" Sounds as if it is worth going after.

Talked with Terry Innis, who, by coincidence, lives in Cincinnati with Bill Higgins. Terry is in engineering, has been to and from Cincinnati three or four times to Louisiana, Venezuela, New York City; "but I want to stay here for a while longer, anyway, so my kids can get through school." Terry and Charlene have three sons, 15, 12, and 16 months. (No guffaws, please. We've all made mistakes.) Terry coaches baseball, basketball, and has "become a good educated watcher of soccer," which is big in Cincinnati. The Innises run into the Higgines at sports events, as both have sons in the same high school. Bill Higgins mentioned that he "sees Ed Marlette '68 at least once a year in Columbus for a golf tournament at The Golf Club (all men, only golf). All this brings me to thoughts of spring weather, which it will probably be by the time this gets into your mailbox.
