Washington, D.C., is a tough city for a student working a leave term job to find a place to live. The rents are high, the tenure is short, and pay is low or nonexistent. As a solution, a pilot program organized by Timothy Light '89, the Dartmouth Club of Washington D.C., and Dartmouth's Career and Employment Service (CES) matches leave term students with alumni or parents in the Washington area who have expressed an interest in hosting them.

CES provides the names of prospective hosts. The student makes the initial contact and negotiates the living arrangements which range from moving in with a family to splitting the rent with a recently graduated alum. So far 15 alumni and parents have expressed an interest in housing students.
