In mid-September, before her father's death, I received a letter from Janet Frey Harte of Corpus Christi, Tex., which ar- rived just too late for the November "Notes" deadline; then Al's death late in the month meant that the Winter issue carried that sad news. So we now quote the still timely gist of Janet's letter: "In your recent '2O notes I saw someone's comment to the effect that classmates might be interested in the numbers of great-grandchildren per class member, so I thought I'd take it upon myself as the only child of Al Frey to report that he's up to eight, with the arrival of his sixth great-granddaughter in London last week! The others live in Boston and San Antonio, and a ninth is already on the way in State College, Penn." It would be great if other daughters and sons (grandchildren, too) would follow Janet's example. News from family members of departed '20s would be very welcome.

Our bequest chairman Red Tillson reports that during the first quarter of the 1988 fiscal year (Juty 1-September 30, 1987) an additional gift of $10,000 (unrestricted) was received from the Sherman Adams 1920 Memorial Fund, and a new bequest in the amount of $98,080 (apparently unrestricted for College use) was received from the estate of Lucille S. Calhoun.

As these notes are written on Pearl Harbor Day (December 7—who can forget it?), all traces of the early fall snowstorms have departed from the Upper Valley, although four New Hampshire ski areas (including Sherm's Loon Mountain) are in operation. The 12 assorted Presidential hopefuls are braving our winter winds. Belatedly, we send warm good wishes for 1988.
