My collection of news articles and releases, some a bit old, others quite current, reflect the following about some of our classmates. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) has elected Dr. Harry Wachen to a three-year term as chairman of the Queens Section of ACOG, the leading medical organization whose more than 26,000 members specialize in the health care of women. Harry practices at Long Island Jewish-Hillside Medical Center and is an associate clinical professor at SUNY, Stony Brook.

Phil Benton has moved up again at Ford Motor Company, this time to president of Ford Automotive Group, where he will run worldwide automotive operations. Phil started in the financial ranks at Ford but has had wide operating experience, most recently as executive vice president-international operations. A New York Times article mentioned that Phil's recent promotion seems to put him in the lead with another executive in the race for the top job at Ford in the early 1990s. That presents the possibility that two '52s could reach the top of the automotive industry. At about the time of Phil's promotion, the Times also mentioned Alan Smith as a possibility for the top spot at General Motors.

Speaking of top spots, the Ogilvy Group recently announced the selection of KenRoman for the post of chairman and CEO of the big New York advertising firm. Ken will be only the fourth chairman in the 40year life of Ogilvy. In contrast to his flamboyant predecessor, who favors risky sports, The Wall Street Journal described Ken as soft-spoken, conservative, and reserved, whose riskiest hobby is tending his garden. As Ken, the English major with eyes on a career in journalism, said at the end of his squib in our 25th Reunion yearbook, "It didn't turn out the way I had planned. But it worked out fine."

Bob Weinig moved up another notch to president and chief operating officer at Eastern Gas and Fuel Associates in Boston

The last of Jack and Dodie Boyle's running-back sons graduates from neighboring Wayland (Mass.) High School this year. David set a single-season rushing record at Wayland last fall and was voted the team's MVP. He ran roughshod over our hometown team, Weston, on Thanksgiving Day. Wish you could have seen the picture of Dodie in the local rag proudly planting a smacker on David's cheek after the game.

Speaking of sports, I nearly collided with Lorraine and Steve Parkhurst the other night in the rush to our respective seats at the Celtic game.

Jeanne and John Bartlett's son Stewart's recent wedding provided an occasion for some Dartmouth grads to get together. The group included Grove Bryant, John Bartlett, Herm Christensen '51, John Beatty '50, Gene Elsbree '55, and Forrest Anderson '53. Our John is at Fox & Carskadon, a real estate firm in Menlo Park, Calif.

Hate to do it for the umpteenth time in a row, but news of Pete Taylor's death just arrived. Pete was a long-time resident of Monaco, where he had based his business as a marketing agent overseas for U.S. manufacturers. Just a few columns back we reported one of Pete's recent business ventures. He suffered a massive heart attack following a day of skiing in Switzerland. Fellow scribe Bill Montgomery, who passed on the tragic news, mentioned that Dick Brown was on his way to his close friend's funeral services in Monaco.
