Our 60th reunion was marred only by the sad news of retiring president Joe Michael's death. A memorial service celebrating his life was held at the University of New Hampshire on July 24. Another sad note to report is the death of Warren Agry Jr., our newly elected head agent, in mid-July. Ray Fontana has agreed; to assume this responsibility.

At the business meeting, the new slate of class officers was presented and duly elected: president, Ted Safford; vice president, Dave Kendall; secretary, Bob Joy; treasurer, John Osborne. Since then two additional posts have been filled. Dick Hinman has been appointed Alumni Council representative and Bob and Peg Tirrell will be co-editors of the class newsletter. There was considerable discussion during the business meeting concerning use of the income from the 1945 endowment fund, which now amounts to about $50,000. Suggestions included grants to the Tucker Foundation, Dartmouth Outing Club, Dartmouth athletic department, student assistance programs and memorials to the role; of the class in WW 11. It was decided not to attempt to resolve the problem at this time but to request the class officers deliberate further and make recommendations subject to the approval of the group which meets monthly for lunch at the Norwich Inn.

Please let me know your thoughts so they may be brought to the groups attention. The dinner dance on Tuesday night, held in the old freshman commons, was especially enjoyable. President Wright spoke briefly and Ted Safford, retiring head agent, and newly elected class president, presented Wright with a check for more than $72,000 from the class for 2005.

Of additional interest is a generous gift of $2 million from the Kreindler Foundation, which will fund a conference and classroom suite to be known as the Lee S. Kreindler 1945 Conference Center. There were 109 reunioners from as far away as Florida and California. They returned to a campus and town that look much the same as they did when we matriculated in the fall of 1941.
