Among this month's news, GregSchelkun was among those featured in a recent Time magazine cover story entitled "New Age Harmonics:" The article describes the increasing influence of such New Age elements as fortune-telling, faith healing, and transmigration of souls. It includes an account of Greg's encounter with a Philippines healer who cured him of the migraine headaches which he had suffered for 15 years, his studies with a second healer in the Philippines, and his therapeutic touch practice in Marin County.

Ron Harris made a gift of $100,000 to the College for use in improving the quality of the faculty and curriculum in the arts and sciences. A computer consultant, Ron majored in engineering and computer sciences while at Dartmouth. Dean of the Faculty C. Dwight Lahr, in his letter of thanks, wrote: "This grant could have a major impact on the quality of curriculum by strengthening significantly (Dartmouth's) ability to compete for the best possible faculty." The gift will permit the College to make additional research initiation awards available to its junior faculty.
