You will be sorry to hear of the death last October of Richard Lee Cantwell who was lost in an airplane crash into Milwaukee Harbor, Wisconsin, on October 12, 1954.
A fine letter from Joe Flounders tells of the arrival of a new son Joseph Walkden Flounders on January 31. Lila May and Joe bought a house in Bala-Cynwyd, new Philadelphia, last fall and were for some time occupied largely with freshening up the 27-year-old place, 95% of which they did themselves. Joe is now rounding out his eighth year with Schuylkill Paper Company in Philadelphia, and he hopes to round out a good many more eight years there.
Joe mentions having dinner after last year's Princeton football game with Gloria andZeke Lanzillo, who have a four-month-old daughter Lisa Maria, and Faith and Bill Wallace, now on the Rutgers faculty in New Brunswick, N. J.
John Fondahl has just completed a two-and-a-half-year long dam and powerhouse job for Winston Bros, near Sacramento, Calif., and he is now on the faculty teaching Civil Engineering at Stanford University. Since his teaching duties will not start until March, John is currently building his house in Los Altos, Calif.
Drs. Gene and Lucille Whittier have recently opened offices in Ashfield, Mass. Gene is a graduate of Boston University School of Medicine and interned at Swedish Hospital in Seattle, Washington. This past year he has been assistant resident physician at Boston City Hospital. Gene's wife Lucille is also a doctor of medicine. She is a graduate of MIT and Boston University and interned at Mt. Auburn Hospital, Cambridge. Gene and Lucille have an 8-year-old son Jeffrey.
Joe Kincaid was engaged in February to Miss Beverly Ann Cote of Belmont, Mass. She is a graduate of the Forsythe School for Dental Hygienists. Joe is with the Bay State York Co., air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
Treasurer George Ferrarese reports the results of the third mailing for class dues somewhat encouraging. Total returns now number 385, representing little over half of the class members. George says that the $1540 received will mean we will barely break even this year. It is still not too late to send George your $4 dues which will include your subscription to the ALUMNI MAGAZINE.
Glad to report that Willie Kimball is still working hard at the piano business. At last count the Kimballs had a fine family of a 7-year-old daughter Jennifer, and three sons, William III, Christopher, and Peter. Willie is an interviewer of prospective Dartmouth applicants in the Chicago area, where he lives in La Grange Highlands, Ill.
Also glad to hear of a Class of 1947 luncheon meeting at 12:30 P.M., the Boston City Club, seventh floor, over Thompson's Spa, on the third Tuesday of each month. The regulars include Bill Wood, Tom Peggat,Hank Torpey, Don Evans, Bun Harvey, PaulBlake, Ken Brown, and Hugh Chapin. Make it a date and drop around. Understand Tom Leggat is enjoying the industrial real estate brokerage business. Hugh Chapin continues in the brokerage department of Field and Cowles Insurance office. Tom tells of seeing Dick Leary at a recent Dartmouth Dinner and reports that Alice and her family of four Learys are fine.
Ken Kelly is pleased and proud to announce the arrival o£ his third child, second daughter, Colby Lorraine, on January 2, in England. The Kellys have been in England two years, and expect to spend a third, weather permitting. Ken is working with Gilboy & Malley, Consulting Engineers, doing general design work for the Air Force.
