I recently received a nice note from my old buddy Brad Margeson who, with his wife, Deb, and their children, now lives in Marquette, Mich. Brad says that his almighty search for gold (he's in the business) has led them to Phoenix, Reno, and now Marquette. I'm not sure that the search in Reno was underground; perhaps it was at the tables. Brad's planning on making a shopping trip to Green Bay soon so that he can count himself among the true Yoopers (people who live on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan). He says, "The next thing you know I'll be wearing a plaid hat and driving a snowmobile." Brad, that's the way we all remember you.

It always pays to read The New York Times. A recent issue listed the wedding of Janet Sue Coffman to Michael Hoover. MikeMarlette was the best man. Janet was most recently an account executive at J. Walter Thompson and graduated from the University of Tennessee. She also received a master's degree in international business from the University of South Carolina.

The mail this month carried news of Wanda Cox Irving, who has settled in Portland, Ore. She has been named communications services director for the city's Bureau of Environmental Services. She is also the newest commissioner for the Cable Regulatory Commission. Wanda has also been nominated twice to the Marquis Edition of Who's Who of American Women.

As promised, I took Lon Cross up on his invitation to watch a Dartmouth hockey game at West Point. Dartmouth is well represented at the USMA. We met up with Bill Charters '76 and Greg McClelland '72, both of whom are instructors at the Academy. The McClellands showed great hospitality complete with game posters prepared by their son. The most astonishing part of the evening was witnessing dozens of 20-yearolds calling Lon "sir." Now we know why you signed up, Lon. The game proved to be the usual memorable ECAC event with the Big Green snoozing through two periods only to awaken in the third. The crew scored a few quick goals, took a couple of nasty penalties in the last two minutes to make it interesting, spotted the home team another goal, and then packed it in for the bus ride north. Good show, guys: 4-3 Dartmouth.

Now, I recently read an article in The WallStreet Journal (probably some time ago by the time this reaches you) which highlighted the activity surrounding a revamped Alma Mater. In order to elicit more mail and to create a little controversy, I would be particularly interested in your opinions regarding our school song. You might wish to address whether or not it is relevant in today's society, or whether it is, say, sexist. If you prefer to address some other aspect, such as the binding effects it may have on a community regardless of the words, feel free to do so. Whatever you choose to write about, just make sure you write. I am also threatening to print some of these responses. Good luck.
