Life has not been the same for Greg Labate since he got hooked on "L.A. Law." In the early stages of his addiction he merely had anxiety problems as he awaited next week's episode. Later he spent his evenings and weekends watching videotapes of his favorite program. Eventually Greg realized it wasn't enough to watch others live the LA law lifestyle, he had to experience it himself, so he enrolled in law school at UCLA (thank goodness he didn't get hooked on the Lone Ranger). Greg doesn't envision a mundane law career prosecuting petty thieves, defending well meaning exhibitionists. Greg intends to become part of the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. Got a little disagreement over your personal appearance contract? Dispute over your film's distribution rights in Bangladesh? Greg's your man. His greatest thrill occurred when he boarded an elevator with Heather Locklear, sex symbol extraordinaire. For a few brief moments it was just our classmate alone with Miss Locklear. And what did he do to capitalize on this opportunity? Nothing but "wish" for a power outage. Come on Greg, opportunities like this don't happen every day! Cause the power outage. Stick you finger in the light socket. Or her finger. Tell her you're an undercover elevator repairman and that you've got to test the emergency systems. Do something! How many Hollywood romances have been started by "wishing" for a power outage?
Southern California has lured another budding young lawyer: Nicki Demakis is at Western State University in San Diego. While Nicki has easy access to beaches for study breaks, not all 'B6 law students do. Jeff Capwell is enjoying himself nonetheless, pursing a law degree at Syracuse and concentrating on his longtime interest, sexual obscenity law. His work in this area has been so outstanding that he was recently elected editor-in-chief of the Syracuse LawReview. Jeff is working in Washington, D.C., this summer where he has found many people in need of his expertise.
Jack Fuchs will also be returning to the classroom, teaching mathematics at Delbarton, where Ed Kim is head of the physics department.
Marie Walsh tunes into "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" each week in order to get a few client leads. She works in private banking for high-net-worth individuals at Manufacturers Hanover in NYC. No other '86s have yet to show up on her target customer list, but it is likely that one of us will break into the ranks prior to our 50th Reunion.
Lisa Delaryd recently graduated from Columbia International Affairs program. After relaxing in Sweden for the summer she returned to NYC to work for Brown Brothers, an investment bank, where she specializes in serving Japanese clients.
Phil Mintun will be relocating to London where he will continue to work for Merrill Lynch. He will be rooming with Rob Douglass, who's at the London School of Economics.
CC Conway recently moved to Chicago. She works at First Chicago by day and studies for her M.B.A. by night at Northwestern. Rob Thompson will be heading to Chicago to enroll in medical school.
Late breaking news: Adelaide Pearson and Greg Hulbert are getting married.
