Here are the opening paragraphs and a few later sentences from a special article in the Boston Sunday Globe.

"HANOVER—'The Kaffee Klatsch.' It is a unique group in this college town. It has 33 members, 30 of which are graduates of Dartmouth. All are men and retired.

"Retirement for many is difficult. Days that were crammed with deadlines and meetings are suddenly left with no structure whatsoever. These men have found the 'Klatsch' a wonderful way to cope with retirement. Every morning, except Sundays and Christmas, anywhere from two to 26 gather at the Hanover Inn to talk for an hour. The bonds among these men, who graduated from college between 1921 and 1960, are centered on their Dartmouth experience; the three who did not graduate from the Ivy League school have been graciously adopted. These are people who not only spent a lot of their time working for the College but are continuing to do so, says Orton Hicks, class of '21, himself a vice president emeritus of the College and as a benefit of his seniority, the unquestionable spiritual leader of the Klatsch . . . Almost all have returned to Hanover in retirement. The list of their former positions reads like a board room all-star-roster. The men do not reminisce about years gone by. They talk about the current events of the nation and of the college. Moreover, there is a hidden benefit to the wives; it gets the husbands out of the house every morning."
