Mel Meyers left the security of Libby-Owens-Ford Co. to join a leveraged buyout of two companies combined into a new company, H.G.P. Industries. Mel is president of an automotive division in Lancaster, Ohio, southeast of Columbus.
Jim Lower, who built up the robotics systems division at the Singer Company, left after 22 years to purchase and head up his own company, Commercial Printers of Connecticut in Norwich. A grandfather for the first time, Jim lives in Eastman, N.H.
Taco Bell promoted George Hellick to vice president, development, western division, responsible for real estate, construction, ana franchising for 1,000 units. The Hellicks are moving to San Clemente, Calif., from Golden, Colo. JohnFarns-worth joined Ward Howell International as a partner in the executive search firm's San Francisco office specializing in financial services assignments.
The State of Virginia tapped Bud Watson as director of the new Chesapeake Bay Local Assistance Department to protect the bay from nearby land use.
Richard Streetman, AIA, heads construction, as project manager, to convert the historic Bigelow-Hartfora Mills in Enfield, Conn., to housing and commercial space. The 24-acre mill complex, once the largest carpet manufacturing facility in the U.S., will be made into 470 luxury apartments and 100,000 square feet of office and self-service storage space, at a cost of $62 million. The mill was vacated by Bigelow in 1971, Its buildings date from 1869 to the mid-1920s and include some of the largest multi-story mills ever erected in New England. Richard is an architect with Sasaki Associates, Inc., a 300-person planning and design firm with offices in Boston, Dallas, and Miami. He and wife Kim live in Newton Falls, Mass.
The Seattle Children's Museum has made Mike Herschensohn executive director. He was formerly director of the Mu seum of History and Industry in Seattle where he lives with wife Julia. Paul Mc- Carthy was elected president of the Ambulatory Pediatric Association. A Madison, Conn., resident, Paul teaches at the Yale School of Medicine. He and Barbara have three children, Paul 23, Scott 17, and Brian 15.
Ogden Memorial Presbyterian Church in Chatham, N.J., has appointed Bob Bunnell pastor. He had been with the Charlton Freehold Presbyterian Church in New York.
The Plessey Electronic Systems Corporation announced the appointment of John Currier to vice president of contracts and compliance. He will also act as corporate secretary of the Wayne, N.J., corporation. John had been senior legal advisor-contracts with Sanders Associates in New Hampshire. A graduate of the University of Baltimore Law School, John lives with wife Judith Ann and their two children in Sparta, N.J.
