As I drive my exotic car (Honda Civic '81) to my exotic job (fundraising), in its exotic location (Boston), I think how tough it must be to get out of bed in the morning if one's life is mundane. Take Craig Feibel, for example. Craig recently completed his doctorate in geology at the University of Utah. He will be spending the summer in remote Kenya, 200 miles from the nearest paved road. ("What's so tough about that?" comments Peggy Stewart, who lives on Beacon Hill in Boston. you ever seen the roads around here?") In Kenya, Craig will continue his work with the noted anthropologist, Dr. Richard Leakey. Craig says that after nine years of crocodile-infested lakes, warring tribesman, spitting cobras, and cameo appearances in National Geographic specials, he is considering reducing his field work. (Do those nine years include his undergraduate years in Hanover?)

Take Dave Lightle, as another example of an oh-so-mundane life. Dave has relocated to Taipei after seven years as a public relations consultant for the Republic of China's Government Information Office in Washington, D.C. In Taiwan David heads Saatchi & Saatchi's business development office. Dave and his wife, Chen Ya, have two girls, Kristina Mei, 8, and Keri Li, 2.

Or take John MacGovern, who is a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives. John is a Republican representing Littleton and Westford, recently voting on legislation regarding cocaine trafficking penalties, higher education funding, and auto insurance reform.

Or other classmates who write something other than "O" on the "Number of Dependents" line on IRS forms. Alison andMike Perrella recently welcomed a daughter, Katherine, into their Manchester, N.H., home. Tom and Margie Schechner Gart welcomed baby number two, Elisabeth Striker, into their Denver household in December.

Or Bruce Collins, who, according to our most recent class records, is a youth counselor in Fairbanks, Alaska, and therefore our northernmost classmate. Or Jennifer Ruh M.D., our westernmost '80, who practices at the Barbers Point Naval Air Station in Mililani, Hawaii, not too far from MikeMorton, Peter Michener, and TomPearson, who all live in Honolulu.

So you see, the breadth of our preferences and talents has sent us to the four corners of the world. And it is this breadth and variety—the mundane and the not-so-mundane that we hope to celebrate in a special 10th Reunion slide show. "A Day in the Life of an '80" will be sponsored by the class committee, produced by Parker Small, and coordinated by Rich von Riesen and Curtis Chase. They're suggesting that we pull out our cameras during the week of June 4 10 and take pictures of our lives —our homes, our children, our vocations, and our avocations.

We should then send our color slides to Parker, who will produce a show that will complement the ones we've enjoyed at our fifth, at graduation, and at Freshman Parents Weekend.

It would be great if everyone could make the extra effort to take a few shots during the first week in June. On the other hand, we'd love slides of anything that has been special or important to you say, a reunion with a handful of classmates, or a fun vacation, or the first ding in your new carwhether or not it occurred during the first week of June. Slides should be mailed to Parker Small at 220 East 72nd Street, Apt. 24A, New York, NY 10021. The coordinators of the project will make every effort to return slides if you so request. Anyone with questions should contact Rich von Riesen at 206/281-8887.
