37 By the calendar, the fantastic 55 th Reunion is history, but in the memories of those who were present, the reflections of three great days in Hanover continue. The good health of our classmates was insured by five physicians present: Don Bauer, CrawfHinman, Chick Koop, John Milne, and SeyOchsner. The physicians outnumbered the attorneys five to three. The barristers were BenCardozo, Viv Edwards, and Bill Timbers.
Today's Boston Globe carried die obituary of Tom Mclntyre, who died in West Palm Beach August 9 from complications related to pneumonia. Tom was the first New Hampshire Democratic Senator in a half-century and served in that capacity 16 years. The Globe said of Tom, "His protestations aside, Senator Mclntyre was a master politician, thriving as a socially minded Democrat in conservative, Republican New Hampshire."
The March 1992 issue of the American College of Radiology Bulletin contained a lengthy tribute to Sey Ochsner as he stepped down after 13 years of chairing the AMA's Section Council on Radiology. One of his colleagues called him "a real medical statesman ... [He] was able to get people to talk together and achieve a consensus on some difficult problems. He spoke well on his feet, and others in the medical community listened to him because he made his arguments persuasively and was respected by all who have known and worked with him."
A note from Hal Putnam tells us that Marlene continues to win top oil painting awards and had her first museum show at the Center for the Arts in Vero Beach. President Russ Stearns has made the appointments for his administration and is looking forward to the '37 family's 28th fall mini-reunion September 18-19. I'll report next month on the mini and the class trip to Canada.
