An increasing number of our classmates are opting for early retirement, surely a sign of our advancing age: John Harlor from Polaroid, Don Charbonnier, from Dean Witter, and Randy Hayes, DickMount, Bob Stirling, and myself from IBM. John, who has had 30 years with Polaroid, the last seven as vice president of personnel, plans to consult and perhaps teach. Don has moved to his "Golden Pond" near Charlestown, R.I. Randy and I plan some consulting, while Bob has become senior vice president responsible for the Farmington, Conn., office of Drake Beam Morin, Inc., an outplacement counseling firm. And Dick has gone from one of the largest corporations in the world to the Ace Trophy Company in Boston, where he is in total command of the business.

From the other side of the world comes word from Bill Lenderking of his new assignment as Minister-Counselor for Public Affairs in Islamabad, Pakistan. Bill and his family are excited about living in a new part of the world for them, and are looking forward to new experiences and adventures. Bill has been studying Urdu "to help when we get away from the cities and official business!" He also hopes to organize a trek or two and would like to know if any '55s are interested.

From Geneva, Switzerland, Ron Murphyphy reports that he is still there after 25 years, still married to Catherine, and has one child in New York, another at home, a real multinational family! Ron has just been named vice president and partner of Korn Ferry, the leading headhunting firm worldwide, he says. The Murphys also have a place in the south of France and look forward to visitors from the class. Sounds like a great opportunity!

Faith Schreiber Feingold, widow of Ronnie, sends word of their children. Daughter Hope, University of Pennsylvania '84, was married last fall to Richard L. Miller and is living in Baltimore. Lynn andAaron Simon and Lois and Dick Frieder attended the wedding. Son Martin, Columbia '87, was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and is now working as a legal assistant prior to starting law school, as yet undetermined, this fall. In 1987 Faith married a law school classmate of Ronnie's, Edgar Feingold, and continues to live in Baltimore.

Still grinding away as an orthopedist and head of a Dartmouth family is Dick Hastings, who practices in Riverhead, N.Y. Daughter Cary '84 graduated from NYU Law School, was married last September, and is now practicing in Washington, D.C. Son Tim '87 is now a Peace Corps person in Mali, West Africa.

Vermont State Representative PeteSarty, who also ran the Basin Ski Shop and Basin Lodge for 30 years, has retired from the resort business, and while continuing to serve his constituents in Montpelier, is looking for something else to do. It seems that the pay as an elected public servant isn't that much, at least in Vermont. He hopes to get more involved with Dartmouth activities again, and I am sure he will get the chance.
