Vic King is another classmate with a grandson who, Vic hopes, will become a member of the class of 1994. The Kings joined that 16- year-old squash player on a tour of the College in August, and were impressed with Admissions' presentation.

Sent by Sam Groves was an eight-page pictorial publication by friends and admirers of Eliot Winslow, commemorating Eliot's 80th birthday and his many milestones.

Bernie Boyle reported proudly on current star wide receiver Tom Parker '90, one of 75-odd applicants for admission whom Bernie has interviewed. Bernie began his interest in helping young people as an instructor in biology and housemaster at Phillips Academy from 1931 to 1942 when the current resident of the White House was a student there.

On the backs of two pages of sheet music written by Alan Bucher was his letter describing his activities since 1923 when he started his photography hobby. Highlights were: enlargements of his photographs, since 1955 mostly in color, that line his walls; teaching music and giving piano and organ concerts for 50 years; employment with exterminating companies in Connecticut from 1950 to 1981, dealing with the public in castles and slums; practicing on and composing for piano and organ beginning under Professor Homer Whitford in Hanover, and continuing under several great artists, the last being the foremost pianist in Italy where Al was stuck in the mud for two years in WW II as clerk-typist with Bomb Squadron 772; now in Hernniker, N.H., pedaling his bicycle for pleasure and errands, giving a few concerts, composing a little, and lecturing an Elder Hostel group. Attached was a list of over 100 of his compositions and arrangements. Al, if you attend our 60th I'll bring that sheet music.

Bob Baumrucker and Tower Snow report no damage from the quake. Hair-raising reports from Ollie Hayward in Alameda and Dave Clifford in Palo Alto, too long for this column and too interesting to condense, were sent to Bill Wendell.
