Jean Davis's Christmas greetings anticipated her escaping the winter once again by flying south in January for her customary three months in Mexico. Please note her
change of address to 44 Elm Street, still in Topsham, Maine.
From Connie and Chuck O'Neill came their annual year-end letter, my reading and re-reading of which have been freely punctuated by chuckles. I quote, "... instead of asking someone 'ls everything all right?,' we now prefer, with the Smiths of Waterbury [Would that be Harold W. '33 and James C. '71?], 'Is anything all right?"'
Al Jones's "still draw a little, shoot pool with several old crocks, and excoriate silly liberals" suggests that he ought to be persuaded to attend the mini next fall— by then, Washington will have given that excoriator plenty of opportunity for comments worth classmates' going miles to hear.
Dave Loveland sent a recent letter from Charlie Schneider, too long for use in this column but too informative to be overlooked, so I sent it to John H. Chamberlin. John is the custodian of the class greatgrandfather sweepstakes, in which Charlie appears to be a contestant. From Charlie's letter and Dave's note, both seemed in good health and spirits.
On the subject of contests, word came from John Chamberlin that Spence Miller had sent John a photo of Spence standing under the Palmer Stadium scoreboard which read, "Guests-34 Princeton-20" (Guess who the "guests" were!). Spence further reported that the contest was the 347 th Dartmouth varsity football game he had attended, beginning with the Boston College game in Hanover in 1916—a span of 76 years. Some record! Anybody out there who can top it?
Charlie Dwyer wrote John H. that ArneFrigard, not Coach Sid Hazleton as previously identified by Frank George, was the lanterncarrier in our team's parade in Grand Central Station after the 1927 scoreless tie against Princeton freshmen.
The winter edition of Dartmouth Medicine had Ralph Hunter doing a fine job as Art Ecker's guest Class Notes writer. Sorry to report the loss of Bill Seney last July
