My first Class Officers Weekend in Hanover was made very special as TomSwartz received the Alumni Award for his many efforts for the College and his class.
Attending the meetings on behalf of the class were President Vail Haak (and Barbara), Vice President John Stearns (and Winifred), Treasurer Bob Muenzberg (and Donna), and your secretary with wife Leigh. Others on hand were Doris andPunchy Thomas (our mini-reunion chairman), Bob Rooke (our bequest chairman), Al Quirk (and Pat), Sam Smith (and Barbara) and Bob Nutt. As usual the Thomases played gracious host to those who remained over the weekend.
The message that came across from these meetings was a sincere attempt to develop an even more democratic method to elect Alumni Trustees and a very extensive program to develop a long-range plan for the College but with review and feedback from all parties at interest.

Doug Thomson has left the Toy Manufacturers Association which he had joined after a 28-year career with Uniroyal during which he served as president and general manager of the Consumer Products Division. It was at this time he had the oppor- tunity to act as a consultant on economic and trade policy for the Carter Administration. I guess this led him into his quest to become an entrepreneur as he has now set up an organization in Woodbury, Conn., Thomson Management Associates, to provide consulting service.

Received a copy of the San Francisco Examiner's "Mover & Shakers" column with a picture of Deke Jackson who had just joined Hembrecht & Quest as managing director of the new merchant banking and corporate services department. While some of us have slowed our pace Deke is expected to develop growth in the firm's corporate finance and LBO business. Such previous experience as partner at Kuhn, Loeb and managing director of First Boston will help him in this challenge.
