Received several notes underscoring the steady climb to professional recognition many classmates are making. Stu Simms, states attorney in Maryland, addressed the annual national convention of the Headmasters Association in New Jersey in February. David Kreps was honored this spring by the American Economic Association for his contributions to economic thought and knowledge. David teaches at Stanford where he is the Paul E. Holden Professor of Economics. His work in finance, including arbitrage pricing and in dynamic game theory has been described as nothing short of pathbreaking. He was on sabbatical this year at Tel Aviv University.

Bruce Westcott was recently named airector of Geographic Information Services for the state of Vermont. Brace's mission is to ran a statewide network of computer-based geographic information to support local, regional, and state decisions affecting the use of land. He was previously a partner in a Montpelier computer services company where he provided computer-based services to town and city governments.

The class executive committee had a meeting in New York at the end of March, which was reported on in detail in our recent newsletter. Highlights include FredCrossman assuming the duties of newsletter editor this summer, and reunion plans for next summer.

Alan and Cynthia Garten belatedly report the birth of Jessica in July of last year in Portland, Ore. Their other daughter, Emily, is in grade school. Cynthia describes Alan as a bi-coastal lawyer, with work in Washington, D.C., as well as Portland. He also somehow finds time to train for the Portland marathon and take the family rafting. And finally, I'm now working in frontier exploration for Maxus Energy here in Dallas, responsible for new ideas, both domestic and international. Just finished my first project in Bulgaria having fun as the oil patch expands.
