Well, it wasn't easy, but it's done. Earlier this month, my wife, Andrea, and I finished transplanting ourselves from Boston to Chicago as part of an ongoing effort to diversify our lives. Over the years, I have grown increasingly ashamed of the fact that my years at Dartmouth constituted the only sustained time I have lived more than 35 miles from my parents. So, a new job beckoned, Andrea was curiously acquiescent, and here we are, staring at dozens of boxes containing our possessions, all crying to be opened.

Let's get down to the business at hand. Roger Satterthwaite checked in to report on a few matters. Roger didn't graduate with our class, or the '84s, '85s, or '86s ... but for good reason. He spent most of that time as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army, before belatedly donning cap and gown in June 1987. In June, Roger started his last year at Columbia Med, where he'll be applying for a urology residency. Meanwhile, Peter Larsen is freshly graduated from the M.B.A. program at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and a self-professed budding scholar. Peter, who freely admits to "C + days at Dartmouth," has now ascended from those depths, and achieved class valedictorian status at UNC. If you're as amazed by this as I am, talk to Pete at Anderson Consulting in New Jersey.

Bruce Greenwald started off his letter to me in this inauspicious way. "I don't remember you at Dartmouth, but I grabbed the Aegis and looked at your picture, which still doesn't help." What's that supposed to mean? My mother selected that photo personally! At any rate, Bruce wrapped up his internal medicine residency at UVA last June, celebrated his three-year anniversary to Leslie Maibach '84, and then returned to Baltimore where he began a fellowship in gastroenterology. Bruce was kind enough to provide me with info regarding Charlottesville denizens, including Karen Rogers, who is working on her doctorate in psychology, and Bruce Yirinec, who "has recently married and has the best tan among the house staff." I know that last part is annoyingly cryptic, but it's the best I can do.

Brace's final news nugget was to pass along word that Beth and Ben Mackey are expecting a baby come September. The expectant parents are residing in England for now, but will return to Baltimore next year. Bruce then signed his name twice, once legibly and once to prove empirically that he's mastered the doctor's scrawl.

From the unsteady Bay area, MichelleOtt sent regards from her earthquake-insured home in San Francisco, where she constructs merger and acquisition deals for Alex. Brown & Sons in her spare time. Michelle, by her own admittance is hooked on skiing, and seems to have spent much of last winter dodging mogul monsters out west. She also sent news about WendyWasson ("hot interior designer"), Lauraand Mark Stein Conrad ("beautiful baby named Amanda"), and Sheila Kirby Zinck ("great timing to be in S.F. when Laura was thrust into motherhood"). And, one last note: Baron Charles Samuel de Gunzburg (whew!) will marry Wendy Goldberg in about a month. Baron (or Charles, if you like) received his master's in public administration from the Kennedy School.

That's all she wrote, folks. Bill Robbins sent me something a few weeks ago, but I honestly can't remember what it was, other than the usual tale of unrequited love. Go see "Cinema Paradiso" if you haven't.
