The mail bag was full this month. What a pleasure not to have to make up an entire column. Michael Whitman wrote to tell me that he was married to Virginia "Ginny" Scott in September 1991 at a wedding that was ushered by Glen French, Alike Lena, and Ben Watts. While I updated all on Glen last month, my sources tell me that both Ben and Alike are in Chicago where Ben was, is, or will be practicing law. As for Air. Lena, I am told he converted his NYU B-School degree into a public finance job at Prudential Bache where he now heads the department since his boss left for Yugoslavia (this tale was too good not to repeat, even if the truth may have been stretched a bit). Also in attendance were MikeBenenson and wife Betsy Danforth Benenson, who, I have heard, live in Greenwich, Conn., with their daughter. Alike a.k.a. "Bobby Basement" is working for Lazard in New York selling institutional equities or equities to institutions or something like that. Returning to Alike Whitman, he works for Chubb Insurance in Pittsburgh and had the dubious distinction of being commissioned in the U.S. Naval Reserve last January during the height of the Desert Storm campaign, though fortunately was not called up.

I also heard from Hank Erbe who wrote, "I was recently married to Margaret Trevisani (Tuck '89) in Hyannisport, Mass. The '84s included in the wedding party were Chris VonEckartsberg, Dwayne Gathers, and NealHesler. In total there were 15 '84s in attendance. One highlight was AndrewGreenebaum's intriguing break-dancing interpretation of a song played by the wedding band (barefoot, no less!). Warner Ide and Frohman Anderson were accompanied by wives, both of whom are expecting children . .. Margaret and I are now living and working in London, where we are employed by Lehman Brothers International (tel # 071/601-0011)."

Thanks, Hank. For the record, I hear that Andrew is working in corporate finance for Disney in California. Also at Disney are DaveHodess and Peter Murphy. Every time I talk to Dave he always promises to give me some great dirt, but he has yet to come through with much other than to let me know that his job in Disney's real-estate development department keeps him too busy to work on his golf game (which for the record was pretty lousy even when we were playing all the time in business school). I have heard from a number of sources that Peter and wife Ann had a son, Alexander, in April and enjoy their home in Pasadena when Peter is not working on the company's strategic planning.

Marc Devorsetz responded to my recent reference to his sales job at Bear Stearns in New York. I quote directly, "FYI you're right, I am selling something to someone! In fact, I'm selling arms to Iraq for Jeff Dahmer in Milwaukee via BCCI London. Any more questions?" Must be some trading floor humorthough, of course, you may remember that Marc was known to some as "Devo" while on the Plain.

Finally, I am happy to report that Lane vonHerzen's first novel, Copper Crown, was published in September. The book chronicles the friendship of two women, one black and one white, in rural Texas in the first half of the century. Lane is in the midst of a seven-city promotional tour, and the work has already been chosen a Literary Guild selection. She lives with her husband, Ken Williams, a scientist, in Redondo Beach, Calif. All us frustrated writers can say is Congratulations! 'Til next we talk.
