Pete Blodgett staged a big lobster bake at his place in Marion on the Cape. His companion Louise came up from Georgia for the occasion. She is very loyal to the class. Pete's nephew Put 'S3 came down from Lebanon with his family. As there were ten, all turned to and dug a long row of clams. Pete sounded very jubilant (likewise Louise), even though he still had some heart trouble. I popped the question over the phone whether Parker was as good a shot as he. Decisive answer came back, "Parker was better with the rifle, I had him with the shotgun." Draw? Louise would have scored too.

Mollie Bates had a visit from son Ben '71 on his return from Africa. He is with Amoco. Mollie had to stay away from tennis until six weeks ago to allow recovery from eye surgery. She's now playing strong, but more surgery is expected in the near future. She went by train to Saybrook, Conn., to see old friends and is greatly taken with the marshes along die Connecticut shore. Salt air must help. The area was this writer's boyhood playground after a spell in Vermont. Remember, Bud, 25 miles south of Middletown? Remember Bud taught there before leaving for Arizona?

Ellis Waring writes, "I am now 91 years old and miss many of my classmates over the years." Walt would remind him that he has ways to go yet—Walt is 94-plus. Take it slowly, Ellis, month by month. Ellis adds, "Hello, fellows, still going strong, keep it up. Left business and having a good time doing zero."

Thought for the month: Bill was the best secretary we've had in years, and Pete Haffenreffer one of our best chiefs. And both were swell fellows.
